Ministry of Mines, under the ongoing Special Campaign 5.0 launched on 2^nd October 2025, has achieved remarkable progress in first fortnight of the campaign. With the special theme ‘E-Waste Collection Drive’, the Ministry continues to strengthen its commitment to sustainability, cleanliness, and responsible resource management.

Under Special Campaign 5.0, the Ministry has conducted 290 cleanliness campaigns across the country against the target of 292 sites, reflecting its proactive approach towards promoting cleanliness and a healthy environment. Through efficient record management and disposal of obsolete materials and files, a total of 13283 sq. ft. of office space has been freed. A domestic e-waste recycling campaign, coordinated by the Jawaharlal Nehru Aluminium Research Development and Design Centre (JNARDDC), is being implemented across 58 locations nationwide, collecting a total of 702.55 kg of e-waste with an amount of ₹4.5 lakh disbursed. This initiative aims to raise awareness about responsible e-waste disposal and recycling, promoting sustainable practices among employees and partner organizations.

Several organizations under the Ministry of Mines have undertaken innovative activities and sustainable initiatives that exemplify creativity and community engagement. Mineral Exploration and Consultancy Limited (MECL) has created a Waste-to-Art model of a bike, Giraffe and a tools stand using metal scrap, showcasing artistic recycling and creative reuse. IBM has beautified office garden and pathway using waste material. Further, The Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM) installed innovative art pieces using scrap and waste materials at Devapur Limestone Mines in Telangana, and constructed a compost pit at a Government School in Morad, encouraging environmental awareness. The Geological Survey of India (GSI) organized a free medical health check-up camp for staff and contractual workers, reinforcing the campaign’s focus on health and well-being

Through these initiatives, in first two weeks the Ministry of Mines continues to promote cleanliness, efficient waste management, and sustainability. The ongoing efforts under Special Campaign 5.0 reflect the Ministry’s commitment to a cleaner environment, innovative recycling, and a circular economy approach — transforming waste into valuable resources and art.
