“BENGALURUPEX-25” District Level Philately Exhibition organized by Department of Posts

Department of Posts under Union Ministry of Communications organized the “BENGALURUPEX-25” District Level Philately Exhibition at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath in Bengaluru today. The inaugural session began with the rendition of Karnataka Nadageethe in the presence of the Chief Guest Nadoja Dr. Hampa Nagarajaiah, Renowned writer, scholar and researcher, along with other distinguished guests Shri B L Shankar, President, Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, Shri C Ravindranath, General Secretary, IISc Alumni Association, Shri N Sridevi, Eminent Philatelist in presence of Dr Chandrasekhar Kakumanu, IPoS, Postmaster General, Bengaluru HQ Region, Bengaluru, Shri Sandesh Mahadevappa, IPoS, Director of Postal Services (HQ), Karnataka Circle, Smt. V Tara, IPoS, Director of Postal Services, Bengaluru HQ, Bengaluru.
The inaugural session was followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp was performed by all the esteemed guests, marking the auspicious beginning of the event. It was followed by a welcome address by Smt. Surya U, IPoS, Senior Superintendent of Post offices, Bengaluru West Division.As part of the Celebration, three special covers were ceremoniously released, symbolizing a unique Mascot Carried Cover by Department of Posts, one special cover commemorating rich cultural legacy of Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath on its 65th Anniversary by Chitrakala Parishath and one special cover on Golden Jubilee Celebration of IISc Alumni Association marking excellence in research of Science. A book “Soul of the Forests” on life style of Tribal communities by Eminent Philatelist Smt. N Sridevi was also released.
The Guest of Honour Dr. B L Shankar delivered a knowledgeable speech appreciating the efforts of the Department of Posts along with gratitude. An insightful speech on Science and development was delivered by the Guest of Honour Shri C Ravindranath. The Chief Guest, Nadoja Dr. Hampa Nagarajaiah, Renowned writer, scholar and researcher delivered an enriching speech sharing personal experiences and long-standing relationship with the Department of Posts and expressed that this event would remain a lifetime memorable occasion like a Dasara festival inauguration. He also expressed that postal services are timeless and will never cease to exist along with appreciation to the dedicated postal services.

A formal presidential speech was delivered by Dr Chandrasekhar Kakumanu, IPoS, Postmaster General, Bengaluru HQ Region, Bengaluru acknowledging the efforts of BENGALURUPEX - 2025 Team. Afternoon session witnessed the release of three special covers on Environment Theme, “Jumbos to Japan”- Bannerughatta Biological Park, Mysuru Sandalwood - Sandal Oil and Mysuru Sandal Soap in the presence of Chief Guest Shri.Surya Sen A V, IFS, Exective Director, Bannerughatta Biological Park along with other distinguished guests Dr.Prashanth P.K.M, IFS Managing Director, Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited and Shri.Gajendra Kumar Meena, IPoS, Senior Superintendent of Post offices, Bengaluru South Division.
An informative speech was delivered by Chief Guest Shri.Surya Sen A V, IFS, Exective Director, Bannerughatta Biological Park and Philatelist and shared his valuable insights and experiences along with appreciation to the department of Posts, his words highlighted the importance of philately, public service and cultural heritage of Karnataka which added value to the event. The Guest of Honour Dr. Prashanth P.K.M, Managing Director, Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited, delivered an insightful speech on Mysuru Sandalwood – Sandal Oil and Mysuru Sandal Soap along with information of the current status of Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited.
The major attractions of the event were Mascot of BENGALURUPEX-2025, Workshop on Philately, Philatelic Quiz, Letter Writing Competitions, Temporary Tattoo Counter, Wall Mural Art and Personalised MyStamp along with various cultural activities from the students witnessed by Juries.
