The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Bengaluru Branch Office, organized a “Manak Manthan” – Technical Discussion on Pressure Cooker and Stainless Steel Cookware Standards on 11th November 2025 at its premises in Peenya Industrial Area, Bengaluru.

The programme focused on two important domestic product standards — IS 2347:2023 – Pressure Cooker and IS 14756:2024 – Stainless Steel Cookware — which play a vital role in ensuring consumer safety, product quality, and performance in every Indian household. The session began with a Welcome Address emphasizing the importance of stakeholder interaction and highlighting Manak Manthan as a platform for collaboration among industry, consumers, and BIS to promote quality and safety.

The technical session was led by Smt. Premlata Sinha, Scientist-D and Joint Director, BIS Bengaluru who elaborated on the key technical requirements, safety provisions, and testing parameters outlined in the respective standards. The presentations provided clarity on certification aspects and compliance procedures for manufacturers. An open house discussion was also held, allowing participants from the industry, and consumer sectors to share their feedback and queries.The programme concluded with the National Anthem, followed by lunch.Through such initiatives, BIS continues to engage with stakeholders to promote Quality, Safety, and Trust through Standards and to strengthen consumer protection and industry compliance across sectors.
