5th Convocation of IIIT Nagpur Celebrated with Great Enthusiasm

431 Degrees Including 8 Ph.D. Degrees Awarded at the Ceremony

The Indian Institute of Information Technology, Nagpur (IIITN) celebrated its 5th Convocation with great enthusiasm at the Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) Auditorium, South Ambazari Road, Nagpur.

Prof. T. G. Sitharam, Chairman, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Government of India, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Shri Deepak Ghaisas, Chairperson, Board of Governors, IIIT Nagpur, presided over the ceremony.

In his address, Prof. Sitharam emphasized that the world is entering a revolutionary “Digital Century,” driven by technological innovation, global collaboration, and artificial intelligence. He urged the graduating students to become problem-solvers and nation-builders, contributing towards a sustainable and self-reliant India. He further encouraged them to stay continuously updated, innovate fearlessly, and lead with purpose as creators of the “Viksit Bharat” of tomorrow.

   

The convocation was attended by a large gathering comprising students of the 6th graduating batch, their parents, faculty members, and other stakeholders from across the country.

During the ceremony, IIIT Nagpur awarded a total of 431 degrees, including 8 Ph.D. degrees, 25 Master of Technology (M.Tech.) in Information and Communication Technology, 69 Post Graduate Diplomas in Information and Communication Technology (PG Diploma), and 329 Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) degrees.

The Institute also conferred two academic awards on meritorious students. The Award of Merit was presented to the toppers of the two disciplines: Mr. Johann Michael (CGPA: 9.62) from Computer Science & Engineering (CSE), and Ms. Guruvelli Chaitra (CGPA: 9.19) from Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE). The Institute Excellence Award, the highest academic honour, was bestowed upon Mr. Johann Michael (CSE) for achieving the highest CGPA of 9.62 among all graduating students.

   

The ceremony commenced with the traditional academic procession entering the convocation hall. Dr. Prem Lal Patel, Director, IIIT Nagpur, delivered the welcome address and presented the institute report, highlighting the achievements and developmental milestones of the institute.

Addressing the gathering, Deepak Ghaisas, Chairperson, Board of Governors, congratulated the graduating class of 2025 and encouraged them to dream big and contribute towards building a strong and self-reliant India through innovation and integrity. He emphasized that engineers are not merely technologists but must blend technical excellence with empathy, sustainability, and social responsibility to build an inclusive society.

Kailas N. Dakhale, I/c Registrar, proposed the vote of thanks. The event was anchored by Dr. Neha Kasture and Dr. Madhuri Tayde.

The ceremony concluded with the rendition of the National Anthem and the formal academic procession exiting the hall, marking the successful culmination of this significant milestone in the institute’s journey.
