On the occasion of birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the first Education Minister of independent India, RIE Bhubaneswar organised an Expression Series and Talk on “Role of Education for National Development “on 11th November 2025. The expression series as a platform provides opportunities for students to express thought and ideas on emerging topics.

Chairing the session, Prof. Manasi Goswami, Principal addressed the students and faculty members. In her address she highlighted the contributions of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad in different areas like national integration, inclusive and equitable education, art and culture and promotion of higher education. 
Prof.H.K.Senapaty, Professor, RIE, Bhubaneswar and former Director, NCERT as chief speaker delivered a lecture on Emerging role of School education and Teacher Education on National Development. Focusing on historical traditions and cultural heritage, he stressed the important contribution of future educators to enhancing educational quality and contributing to national development.
The Student speakers- Sidhant Arya,  Humaira, Debasmita Das,Mohammad Altamash,  Rajli Jha, Ishita Panda, Devasish Kumar, Dipshikha Bhoumik, Soma Gayen and ,Asish Behera expressed their views on contributions of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad and role of education for national development. The student speakers in their expression outlined the vision and contributions of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad in the area of universal education, promotion of culture and values and  research in higher education. The programme was attended by students and faculty members of the Institute. Prof. Ritanjali Dash, Head, DEE, Dr. Ved Prakash Vema ,Head DESM were present. The open discussion reflected the enthusiastic participation of students in the expression series. The welcome address and context of  the programme was presented by Prof.Laxmidhar Behera, Head, DE  and Coordinator.Dr.Kalinga Ketaki, Head, DESSH, RIE Bhubaneswar and coordinator offered vote of thanks.
