Outreach Programme–Cum–Way Forward to Exports Jointly Organized by ISEPC, DGFT Bengaluru & Central Silk Board

The Indian Silk Export Promotion Council (ISEPC), in collaboration with the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Bengaluru and the Central Silk Board (CSB) under Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, successfully organized the Outreach Programme–cum–Way Forward to Exports on 14 November, 2025 in Bengaluru.

Shri A. Bipin Menon, ITS, Trade Advisor, Ministry of Textiles spoke about the export potential of the textile and silk sectors, reiterating the Ministry’s commitment to creating an enabling environment through supportive policies, market access initiatives, and industry consultations. He encouraged entrepreneurs to innovate and diversify their product offerings to align with evolving international demand.

Dr. Bimal Mawandia, Chairman, ISEPC, outlined the Council’s initiatives to boost silk exports and highlighted Bengaluru’s strong potential backed by its renowned silk quality. He announced the upcoming Digital Delegation and released a comprehensive silk compendium. He encouraged entrepreneurs to leverage government support, assured continued assistance from ISEPC and urged them to enhance product standards to strengthen global buyer confidence.

Shri P. Sivakumar, IFS, Member Secretary, Central Silk Board and Secretary General of International Sericulture Commission (ISC), highlighted India’s steady and strategic growth in silk sector, noting that sustained efforts in the areas of research, technology adoption, farmer-oriented interventions have strengthened the nation’s march towards Atmanirbhar Bharat in silk production. Cited the planned MoUs with Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT). And, invited the entrepreneurs and exporters of silk to participate in upcoming Bharat Tex (2026).

Dr. Naresh Babu N., IFS, Joint Secretary (Tech) Central Silk Board and CEO, Silk Mark Organization of India underscored the importance of capacity building, cluster development, and technology dissemination across the silk value chain. He emphasized that India’s silk sector can achieve significant export expansion through sustained skill development, modernization of production practices, and adoption of high-yield, quality-oriented technologies. Highlighted the CSB’s Silk Samagra Scheme and Mera Resham and Mera Abhiman (MRMA) campaign launched by Hon’ble Giriraj Singh, Minister of Textiles.

Ms. Dona Ghosh, ITS, Head, DGFT Bengaluru emphasized the role of DGFT in providing policy support, export facilitation, and documentation guidance to businesses. She encouraged participants to fully utilize DGFT schemes and digital platforms to streamline their export processes. She also highlighted emerging global opportunities for Indian silk exporters.

Dr. Malini L. Tantri, Associate Professor, CESP Institute for Social and Economic Change Bengaluru discussed the economic relevance of silk clusters and the importance of inclusive growth, skill development, and value-chain strengthening, especially for micro and small enterprises in the sector.

The event brought together dignitaries and key stakeholders for an interactive discussion on export strategies and opportunities in the silk sector. Participants gained clarity on export procedures, government schemes, product diversification, and global market needs. The dignitaries urged the silk fraternity to leverage India’s strengths and work closely with ISEPC, DGFT, and CSB to enhance export growth.

The programme was hosted by Dr. Bimal Mawandia, Chairman, along with the Members of the Committee of Administration of ISEPC. The event witnessed the presence of distinguished dignitaries Shri A. Bipin Menon, ITS, Trade Advisor, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India; Shri P. Sivakumar, IFS, Member Secretary & CEO, Central Silk Board, Government of India & Secretary General of International Sericulture Commission (ISC); Dr. Naresh babu N., IFS, Joint Secretary (Tech) & CEO-Silk Mark Organization of India; Ms. Dona Ghosh, ITS, Head, DGFT, Bengaluru; Dr. Malini L. Tantri, Associate Professor (CESP), Bengaluru and industry leaders who provided valuable guidance to participants from the silk and textile ecosystem.
