The School of International Cooperation, Security and Strategic Languages (SICSSL) at Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) conducted its flagship event, 55^th Lavad Confab on National Security on 18^th November, 2025. The event hosted Dr. Juan-Pedro Schmid, Counsellor and Head of Economic, Trade and Commercial Section, Embassy of Switzerland, New Delhi. The expert delivered a lecture on “Contours of Financial and Economic Security: The Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA) between Switzerland and India as a framework for Sustainable Growth and Strategic Cooperation”.

Dr. Schmid delivered an insightful lecture on “Contours of Financial and Economic Security: The Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA) between Switzerland and India as a Framework for Sustainable Growth and Strategic Cooperation.” His talk highlighted the evolving contours of global financial systems and the role of strategic economic partnerships in strengthening national and international security frameworks. During his address, Dr. Schmid emphasized the growing significance of the TEPA in deepening bilateral trade relations between India and Switzerland. He explained how the agreement is poised to boost innovation-driven collaborations, enhance technology-oriented growth, and contribute to economic stability and sustainable development. He also noted that financial resilience and strategic cooperation are becoming essential pillars within the global security architecture, shaping the way nations engage in economic diplomacy and mutual growth.

The session opened with welcome remarks by Dr. Aparna Varma, Director, SICSSL, who highlighted the importance of the Lavad Confab in promoting meaningful global dialogues on economic and strategic cooperation. She expressed that such interactions help bridge the gap between policy, academia, and practice, enabling students and faculty to engage with international perspectives on national security and development. The event was attended by the school directors, faculty members, students and army personnels, who actively engaged in discussions on the TEPA.
