ICAR–NBAIR, Bengaluru Hosts Live Webcast of ‘Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN)’ and Distributes Biocontrol Inputs under Scheduled Caste Sub Plan

ICAR–NBAIR, Bengaluru organized the live webcast of the ‘Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN)’ programme addressed by the Honourable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi Ji, for the benefit of farmers particularly Small and Marginal Farmers (SMFs) on November 19, 2025, at ICAR-NBAIR, Yelahanka campus. The event was graced by Dr. K. Sudhakar, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha (Chikkaballapura Constituency) as the Chief Guest, and Shri S. Muniswamy, former MP, Lok Sabha (Kolar Constituency), as the Guest of Honour, in the presence of Dr. T. Venkatesan, Director (I/C), ICAR–NBAIR. In his opening remarks Dr. T. Venkatesan briefed the dignitaries and participants about the Institute’s programmes and initiatives aimed at supporting farmers.

 

Chief Guest Dr. K. Sudhakar in his address highlighted that since the launch of PM-KISAN in 2019, nearly ₹3,91,000 crore has been transferred to about 9 crore farmers nationwide. He further mentioned that under the 21st instalment of the scheme, ₹18000 crore would be credited directly to farmers. He emphasized the significance of various farmer welfare schemes introduced by the Union Government to achieve the goal of doubling farmers’ income and commended ICAR–NBAIR for its efforts in promoting Natural Farming and eco-friendly technologies for producing safe food, fodder and fiber. He encouraged the Institute to further expand its outreach to benefit more farmers.

In his address the Guest of Honour Shri S. Muniswamy, former MP (Kolar), outlined several key initiatives introduced by the Honourable Prime Minister for the upliftment of the farming community. He also highlighted the critical role of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) in enhancing farmers’ income and strengthening rural livelihoods.

Over 175 farmers participated in the virtual event marking the release of the 21st instalment of the PM-KISAN Scheme by the Prime Minister. As part of the programme, biocontrol inputs were distributed to nearly 100 farmers from Kolar District under the Scheduled Caste Sub Plan (SCSP) and Tribal Sub Plan (TSP). The participating farmers were also taken on a guided visit to the Butterfly Garden, Black Soldier Fly Facility, Bee Homes, and experimental fields at the ICAR- NBAIR, Yelahanka campus. An exhibition on biocontrol compatible technologies for pest management was organized to benefit the farmers attending the program.
