The district-level 'Sardar@150 Unity March’ was held in collaboration with My Bharat Kendra, the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, the District Youth Office, Mera Yuva Bharat, the District Administration, and the National Service Scheme in Bengaluru today, commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

The event was formally inaugurated by Sushri Shobha Karandlaje, Union Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Labour & Employment. The Minister flagged off the unity march. Speaking at the inauguration, Minister Karandlaje highlighted that the programme was organized with the objective of inspiring the youth towards nation-building. "Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's contribution to the formation of independent India is significant. While the British divided the country with their divide-and-rule policy at the time of independence, it was Sardar who successfully unified the nation, from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, establishing a democratic system," she stated.

The Minister recalled that the Unity March aims to make every citizen and child aware of the importance of freedom and unity. "We remember Sardar because he unified this country. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi built the Statue of Unity to honour him. By participating in this Unity March let us commit to build a stronger India," she urged the participants.

Shri Gopalayya, MLA of the Mahalakshmi Layout constituency, who presided over the programme, stated that the campaign intends to awaken patriotism and convey the message of unity to the masses. "This unity march must serve to remind everyone of the contribution made by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in uniting the country. Let us all participate in this unity walk and spread the importance of cohesion," he said.

The ‘Unity March' witnessed the participation of over 300 citizens, mostly youth. The Unity Pledge was also administered to the participants during the event.
