TDB-DST funds Indigenous EV Charger Commercialisation to Accelerate Clean Mobility under PM Modi’s Atmanirbhar Bharat Vision


TDB-DST sanctions financial assistance to M/s Electrowaves Electronics, Himachal Pradesh for fully Home-Grown EV Chargers, Strengthening India’s Self-Reliant E-Mobility Ecosystem

Technology Development Board (TDB), Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, has sanctioned financial support to M/s Electrowaves Electronics Pvt. Ltd., Parwanoo, Himachal Pradesh, for the commercialisation of Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured EV Chargers, advancing the national resolve of clean mobility and self-reliance. The initiative strengthens the Government of India’s push towards an Atmanirbhar Bharat by reducing dependency on imported charging solutions and accelerating India’s transition to electric transportation.

M/s Electrowaves Electronics Pvt. Ltd. has developed in-house AC and DC fast chargers along with key components such as Power Modules, Insulation Monitoring Device and Communication Controllers. The DC fast chargers operate in the 30–240 kW range and the technology stack includes:

  • 15 kW & 30 kW Power Converter Modules (100–1000 VDC output, 100A max current)
  • PLC Communication Controller (fully compliant with DIN SPEC 70121 and partially with ISO 15118)
  • OCPP Communication Controller (fully compliant with OCPP 1.6J and OCPP 2.0.1)
  • Universal DC Charge Controller with complete HMI design.
    The company has also engineered AC Type-2 chargers suitable for both domestic and public charging use, broadening availability of high-efficiency, India-made EV charging systems.

TDB’s support to M/s Electrowaves Electronics is expected to boost the domestic electric mobility ecosystem by scaling production of technologically competitive charging infrastructure, enhancing accessibility, and supporting India’s goal of net-zero emissions. It also strengthens supply chains within the strategic energy and clean-tech sectors, supporting India’s global competitiveness in the EV landscape.

Shri Rajesh Kumar Pathak, Secretary, TDB, stated that, “The company’s efforts in developing and commercialising indigenous EV chargers reflect India’s commitment to innovation-driven self-reliance. Such projects enhance energy security, reinforce sustainable industrial growth, and accelerate the nation’s transition toward clean mobility.

Promoters of Electrowaves Electronics Pvt. Ltd. expressed gratitude for the support and noted that the assistance will help them expand manufacturing capability and contribute meaningfully to India’s clean energy future.

This initiative reaffirms TDB’s continued commitment to enabling indigenous technology development, promoting Make in India, and building strong domestic capabilities in next-generation transportation systems.
