Curtain Raiser Ceremony for IISF-2025 held at CSIR-CMERI, Durgapur

CSIR–Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute commemorated the curtain-raiser ceremony of the 11th India International Science Festival (IISF)–2025 on 28th November 2025. The IISF–2025 is scheduled to be held at Panchkula, Haryana from 6th–9th December 2025, with the theme “Vigyan Se Samruddhi: For Aatmanirbhar Bharat” (Science for Prosperity: For a Self-Reliant India). The festival aims to showcase India's scientific accomplishments and strengthen the spirit of innovation, sustainability, and self-reliance. It is being jointly organized by the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), Government of India, and Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA).
The ceremony was graced by the presence of Padma Shri Awardee (2024) Prof. Narayan Chakraborty as Chief Guest, who delivered an inspiring lecture to motivate and encourage the audience. During the event, the speakers emphasized the indispensable contribution of science, research, and technological innovation in realizing the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. They highlighted the importance of collaborative scientific efforts to drive national development and sustainable growth. The coffee table book on the CSIR-CMERI’s developed first remarkable technology “Swaraj” was also unveiled on this occasion.
A total of 90 students and 6 teachers from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Bankura and Jemua Bhadubala Bidyapith (H.S.), Durgapur participated in the programme. The initiative aimed to ignite curiosity in young minds and promote a spirit of scientific inquiry and innovation, reinforcing the nation’s commitment to fostering research and technological progress.
The programme concluded with a demonstration of various technologies developed by CSIR-CMERI, Durgapur in the domains of agriculture and farm machinery such as the Electric Tractor, Electric Tiller along with societal technologies including the Mechanized Drain Cleaning System, Septic Tank Cleaning System, among others.
The event closed on a note of collective enthusiasm and commitment towards making IISF– 2025 at Panchkula, Haryana a grand representation of India’s scientific prowess, innovation, and march towards self-reliance.
