Maharashtra has recorded significant progress in organic farming under the Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY), which is implemented since 2015-16 and aims to promote cluster-based organic farming and support farmers from production to marketing.
As per the latest data (as on 31.10.2025), Maharashtra continues to be one of the leading states in adopting organic cultivation practices.
Key Achievements in Maharashtra under PKVY
- Total Organic Clusters Formed: 2,978
- Area Brought under Organic Farming: 66,756 hectares
- Total Farmers Benefitted: 87,350
- Financial Assistance Released (2015–16 to 31.10.2025): ₹15,704.51 lakh
Under PKVY, farmers receive an assistance of ₹31,500 per hectare over three years, including a Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) of ₹15,000 per hectare for organic inputs, both on-farm and off-farm. The scheme prioritizes small and marginal farmers and aims to create a robust organic supply chain in the State.
The Government’s continued efforts in certification through the Participatory Guarantee System of India (PGS-India) and strengthening of market linkages are further supporting Maharashtra’s organic farmers in accessing wider markets and ensuring better returns.
This was stated in a written reply to an unstarred question by the Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shri Ramnath Thakur in Lok Sabha today.
