NATIONAL LIVESTOCK MISSION:

The Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Government of India, under the Entrepreneurship Development component of National Livestock Mission, is providing a 50% capital subsidy up to Rs. 50.00 lakh to individuals, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Joint Liability Groups (JLGs), Farmer Cooperative Organizations (FCOs) and Section 8 Companies for the establishment of rural poultry breeding farms; sheep, goat, pig, camel, horse, and donkey breeding farms; and fodder value-addition units (i.e., hay, silage, Total Mixed Ration (TMR), fodder block, fodder seed processing, grading, and storage units). The entire scheme is end-to-end digitalized.
Till date 3843 projects have been approved with total project cost of Rs.2672.65 Cr. and an approved subsidy of Rs.1233.69 Cr. Of these, 2014 project have received the first Instalment of subsidy to the tune of Rs.354.06 Cr. and 706 projects have received the second Instalment of subsidy to the tune of Rs.119.34 Cr. - The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD), Government of India is implementing Centrally Sponsored Scheme National Livestock Mission with a Sub Mission on Feed and Fodder Development since 2014-15.The Mission is realigned in July 2021 and modified in March 2024.The Sub-Mission is currently having an component of Entrepreneurial activity on feed and fodder development providing a 50% capital subsidy of total project cost up to Rs. 50.00 lakh to the beneficiaries for establishment of infrastructure for Fodder Seed processing including grading unit/ fodder seed storage godown as per scheme guidelines.
- To promote private sector investment in the livestock sector, under Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund (AHIDF) scheme, Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD), Government of India is assisting and providing interest subvention to the eligible entities including individual entrepreneurs, Private Companies, MSMEs, Farmers Producers Organizations (FPOs), Section 8 companies and Dairy Cooperatives for establishment of units in following sectors: (i) Dairy processing and value addition infrastructure, (ii) Meat processing and value addition infrastructure, (iii) Animal Feed Plants, (iv) Breed improvement technology and breed multiplication farms for cattle/Buffalo/Sheep/Goat/Pig, (v) Veterinary vaccine and drug production facilities, (vi) Animal waste to wealth management (agri-waste management) and (vii) primary wool processing infrastructure.
Under AHIDF, 18 projects have been approved for the Rajasthan State, leveraging an investment of Rs 258.12 Crores. However, Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD), Government of India has not received any projects under AHIDF for grant of assistance from the Jhalawar and Baran districts of Rajasthan.
Under NLM Entrepreneurship Development component, as detailed above 50% capital subsidy up to Rs.50.00 lakh is also being provided to individuals, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Joint Liability Groups(JLGs), Farmer Cooperative Organizations (FCOs) and Section 8 companies to encourage investment and establishment of rural poultry breeding farms, sheep/goat, pig, Camel, Horse, Donkey breeding farm, fodder value addition (i.e. Hay/Silage/Total Mixed Ration (TMR)/ Fodder Block / fodder seed processing and grading infrastructure Units including storage unit.
- As per the Basic Animal Husbandry Statistics (BAHS), 2024, indigenous cattle population has increased from 1,33,24,462 in the year 2012 to 1,39,37,630 in the year 2019 in the Rajasthan State which is 4.60 percent increase in Rajasthan.
