Cooperative Groups and Grants

- As per the National Cooperative Database (NCD), out of total of 8.4 lakh cooperatives societies across the country, 6.5 lakh are functional, having approximately 30 crore members across 30 Sectors. The State-wise and sector-wise numbers of functional cooperative societies, are attached as Annexure-1 & Annexure-2, respectively.
- National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) has assisted 40,863 cooperative societies in the last three financial years. The details of which are attached as Annexure-3.
- Under the Grant in aid to National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC), the NCDC has sanctioned Rs. 7323.21 crore and disbursed Rs. 203.75 crore till 30.11.2025. The details are provided at Annexure-4.
- & (e) As per the approved guidelines of CSISAC scheme, all the States/UTs had been categorized as Cooperatively Developed (11), Under Developed (13) and Least Developed (12) for the purpose of implementation of this scheme. The List of these States/UTs along with the financial assistance provided under the scheme is given at Annexure-5.
- During FY 2024-25, NCDC sanctioned financial assistance of Rs. 79042.02 crore and disbursed Rs. 66103.90 crore to Least Developed (LD) / Under Developed (UD) States. Cumulatively as on 31.03.2025, Rs. 2,85,815.09 crore was disbursed to LD/UD States under various schemes of NCDC, which accounts for around 69.98% of the total assistance of Rs. 4,08,381.27 crore disbursed by NCDC, so far. The details are provided below at Annexure-6.
- To increase the participation of Women, Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Scheduled Castes (SC), in Multi State Cooperative Societies registered all over the country, the Government of India vide the Multi-State Cooperative Societies (amendment) Act, 2023 and Rules framed thereunder has made provisions for reservation of two seats for Women and one seat for SC or ST in the Board of multi-State cooperative societies. Besides above, Ministry of Cooperation has circulated Model Bye-laws for PACS to all the States/ UTs under which provisions have been made to make the membership of PACS more inclusive, giving adequate representation to Women and Scheduled Castes/Schedules Tribes.
