India Post has unveiled Karnataka’s first Gen Z-themed revamped post office — the Achit Nagar Post Office — located at Acharya Institute of Technology, Bengaluru. Designed as a youth-friendly, tech-driven space, this initiative aims to blend digital access, creative design, and community engagement, aligning with the preferences of the younger generation.

Gen Z post office reimagines a traditional post office into a vibrant space with the best of the facilities like work café, a “Book-booth” stacked with books and board games, and artworks painted by students of the institute capturing the essence of Bengaluru, India Post and the Acharya institute. The interiors reflect work café aesthetics with free Wi-Fi access, comfortable seating, charging points for laptops and mobiles, and a coffee vending machine, creating a student-centric space that encourages both productivity and social interaction.

A Self-Booking Kiosk and QR code-enabled instant payment options are available catering to ease of use and digital payments, and the DIY (Do-It-Yourself) spirit of the Gen Z audience. Visitors can get personalized stamps printed in the “MyStamp” counter at the Gen Z Post office, giving a modern twist to India Post’s heritage of commemorative philately.

The office was officially inaugurated at Acharya Institute of Technology, Bengaluru on 17th December 2025 by Mr. Prakash, IPoS, Chief Postmaster General, Karnataka Postal Circle, in the presence of Dr.  Bhagirathi V, Director (Academics), Acharya Group of Institutions. A Picture Post card with special cancellation signifying the event was also released during the event.

Speaking about the Gen Z Post office, Ms. Surya, IPoS, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Bengaluru West Division, said, “The space has been conceptualized and executed with active participation from students who helped shape its design, ensuring it reflects Gen Z’s values of accessibility and creativity and adhering to the motto of this initiative, ‘Of the students, by the Students, for the Students’. This post office also provides parcel packaging services on campus that saves students time, reduce stress, and make it easier and safer to move or ship their belongings directly from where they study.”

India Post plans to extend such Gen Z-themed post offices across educational institutions nationwide, making postal services more accessible, engaging, and future-ready. By integrating technology, design, and authentic youth engagement, India Post is repositioning itself from a traditional communication channel to a modern, connected, and student-friendly hub.
