NIT Raipur Inaugurates 13th IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Systems and Embedded Design

Strengthening India’s position in advanced computing, artificial intelligence and embedded technologies, the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Raipur on Wednesday inaugurated the 13th International Conference of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) on Intelligent Systems and Embedded Design (ISED–2025). The three-day international conference, being organised by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, NIT Raipur, is being held from December 17 to 19, 2025.

The inaugural ceremony drew participation from eminent academicians, researchers, industry experts, faculty members, research scholars and students from India and abroad. The conference is being conducted with financial support from the Anusandhan National Research Foundation, the Indian Council of World Affairs and the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, India.

The inaugural session was graced by Prof. Priyadarshan Patra, Vice-Chancellor of NIST University, Berhampur, Odisha, as the Chief Guest. Prof. Partha Roop of the University of Auckland, New Zealand, attended as the Distinguished Guest, while Prof. T. V. Vijay Kumar of Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, and Prof. Siba K. Udgata of the University of Hyderabad were present as Special Guests. Ms. Anubha Gupta, representing the Indian Council of World Affairs, also attended the event.

The conference is being held under the patronage of Prof. N. V. Ramana Rao, Director, National Institute of Technology Raipur. Senior faculty members present at the inaugural session included Dr. Dilip Singh Sisodia, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering; Dr. Pradeep Singh, Conference Chairman; and Conference Coordinators Dr. Manu Vardhan, Dr. Jitendra K. Raut and Dr. Deepak Singh, along with faculty members and registered participants.

Welcoming the gathering, Conference Coordinator Dr. Manu Vardhan outlined the objectives of the conference, stating that it aims to provide a high-quality global platform for researchers to present and exchange cutting-edge research outcomes. Highlighting the conference theme, “Generative Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things Devices,” Conference Chairman Dr. Pradeep Singh emphasised the need to balance rapid technological advancement with ethical responsibility.
Dr. Dilip Singh Sisodia noted that the conference received a significant number of high-quality research paper submissions, reflecting its academic relevance and international standing. He added that the event would serve as an important forum for learning, collaboration and interdisciplinary engagement.
Addressing the participants, Prof. N. V. Ramana Rao said that the applications of the conference theme extend across critical domains such as autonomous vehicles, embedded system design, machine learning, healthcare technologies and smart city development. Ms. Anubha Gupta highlighted India’s growing technological capabilities, noting that the country is emerging not merely as a consumer but as a global leader in innovation.
Prof. Siba K. Udgata drew attention to challenges related to the availability of authentic data and the need for solutions aligned with Indian requirements, stressing the importance of adopting global standards to address local problems. Prof. T. V. Vijay Kumar observed that machines cannot replace humans and that ethical and judicious use of technology is essential.
Sharing his perspective, Prof. Partha Roop spoke on the changing nature of knowledge acquisition in the digital era, while Chief Guest Prof. Priyadarshan Patra underscored the importance of hosting international conferences in Tier-2 cities to strengthen research culture and promote balanced regional development.
The inaugural session concluded with the presentation of mementoes to the distinguished guests and a vote of thanks by Dr. Jitendra K. Raut. The three-day conference will continue with technical sessions and discussions focused on innovation, collaboration and ethical technological development.
