The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Coimbatore Branch Office, in collaboration with Satchidananda Jothi Nikethan International School, successfully inaugurated the Standards Club at the school premises on 19 December 2025.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. R. Umamaheswari, Principal. The inaugural ceremony included the traditional lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest, Principal, Standards Club Mentor, and a student representative.

The inaugural address was delivered by Smt. G. Bhavani, Scientist-F & Senior Director, BIS Coimbatore Branch Office, who highlighted the importance of standards in ensuring safety, quality, and sustainability in everyday life. She emphasized the role of students in spreading awareness about Indian Standards from a young age. Dr. Kavidasan, Secretary, Satchidananda Jothi Nikethan International School, also addressed the gathering and appreciated the initiative taken to establish the Standards Club.

An overview of BIS activities was presented by Shri G. Vinith Kumar, Scientist-E / Director, BIS Coimbatore Branch Office, followed by an introduction to the BIS Standards Club initiative by Shri Rino John S, Scientist-E / Director, BIS Coimbatore Branch Office, explaining its objectives and benefits for students.

The Standards Club was formally launched, and Standards Club badges were distributed to student members by the dignitaries on the dais. A Student Poster Making Competition on the theme “Safety First: How Standards Protect You?” was also conducted to encourage creative thinking and awareness among students.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by a student representative, followed by the National Anthem. The event ended with refreshments for all participants.

The inauguration of the Standards Club marks an important step towards fostering a culture of quality, safety, and standardization among young minds and strengthening awareness of Indian Standards at the school level.
