CSIR SMART Village Initiative Launched from Sawaipura

The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, has launched a Mission Mode Project on “SMART VILLAGE”, aligned with the Prime Minister’s vision of “Viksit Bharat @ 2047.”
This mission mode project inaugurated by Member of Parliament, Pali, Shri. P. P. Chaudhary, and Dr. (Mrs.) N. Kalaiselvi, DG-CSIR, New Delhi, Shri Bhim Raj Bhati, MLA, Pali constituency along with Professor, Pradeep Kumar Ramancharla, Director, CSIR-CBRI, Roorkee, Dr. P C Panchariya, Director CSIR-CEERI, Pillani, Sh. Vishal Sipa, ACEO, Pali, Shri Manmohan Meena, BDO, Rohat, Sh. Sunil Bhandari, District President, sh. Prakesh Patel, Tahasildhar, Rohat, Shri Dilip Singh VDO, and Sh. Santanu Chakraborty, CEO, Bal Raksha Bharat, along with scientists from different CSIR laboratories, who were present at the event.
On this occasion, scientists from 14 CSIR laboratories were present and conducted a detailed need assessment survey, leading to the identification of suitable technologies for deployment under the CSIR SMART Village Mission in Sawaipura Village, Pali District, Rajasthan. During the launch event, the exhibition gallery showcased a range of climate-responsive and livelihood-oriented invention, including solutions for housing and infrastructure (cool roof technologies, low-cost housing, and rural roads), renewable energy and water management (solar assisted systems, wastewater and fecal sludge treatment, and safe drinking water solutions), agriculture and allied sectors (aromatic and medicinal crops, beekeeping, millet value addition, and smart farm machinery), waste management (solid waste management, biodegradable products, biogas, and composting), digital and AI-enabled systems (smart energy management, wildlife conflict mitigation, health monitoring, and milk quality analysis), as well as groundwater assessment.
Together, these integrated inventions aim to improve quality of life, strengthen rural livelihoods, promote sustainability, and support the holistic development of Sawaipura as a model SMART Village aligned with national missions and schemes. Dr. Kishor S. Kulkarni, Principal Scientist, CSIR–CBRI, Roorkee, is serving as the Nodal Coordinator for the CSIR SMART Village Mission. On this occasion, an MoU was signed with Bal Raksha Bharat, New Delhi, which will serve as the implementation partner for the project. The villagers of Sawaipura interacted with scientists from different CSIR laboratories. The event was coordinated by, Dr. Chandan Swaroop Meena, Shri Rajesh Sharma and their team. From CSIR–CBRI, Dr. Ajay Chourasia, Dr. Tabish Alam, Dr. Naveen, Shri Chakradhar, and other officials were present at the event.
