Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), an institution of national importance under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, hosted a high-profile media interaction on 27th December 2025 at Karnavati Club, Ahmedabad.
The session was chaired by Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel, alongside Mr. Yash Sharma, Director, School of Physical Education and Sports (SPES), and Dr. Utsav Chaware, Director, Bharat Centre of Olympic Research & Education (BCORE). The interaction brought forth several strategic announcements aimed at reinforcing RRU's commitment to excellence in national security education and global sports collaboration.

The Bharat Centre of Olympic Research and Education (BCORE), established in June 2024, stands as India's and South Asia's first Olympic Studies Centre recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Since its inception, BCORE has been actively delivering and disseminating IOC initiatives, advancing interdisciplinary research, sport governance studies, and global academic cooperation within the Olympic framework. Through national and international collaborations, research funding, and contemporary gap analysis, BCORE has positioned itself as a thought leader in promoting Olympism, fostering sporting excellence, and building India's knowledge ecosystem in Olympic studies and governance.
Key Upcoming Initiatives and Announcements:
1. World Police and Fire Games 2029: India's Olympic-Style Debut
Rashtriya Raksha University will host eight disciplines of the World Police and Fire Games 2029, marking India's debut as host of this prestigious Olympic-style event for law enforcement and fire service personnel worldwide. RRU will host Wrist Wrestling, Bench Press, Bodybuilding, Cross Country 10km, Push-Pull Lifting, Muster, Indoor Rowing, and Darts on its advanced campus infrastructure.
The biennial Games attracted over 9,000 athletes from numerous countries competing in 60+ sports at the 2025 USA edition, where India won over 600 medals. Following observations at these games, the RRU team has prepared a comprehensive roadmap documenting best practices and strategies for hosting major international sporting events, including the FIFA World Cup, Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, and Youth Olympic Games.
The university has established a dedicated Secretariat to coordinate all aspects of planning, logistics, venue management, and athlete services for the eight sporting disciplines. RRU is also building a cadre of 500 trained volunteers to support the smooth conduct of the Games. Additionally, RRU's state-of-the-art School of Physical Education and Sports features a comprehensive Human Performance Lab that has tested over 4,070 individuals and completed 50+ research studies. The university is also developing a Sports Indoor Complex and an Anti-Doping Laboratory.
As Gujarat prepares to welcome thousands of athletes who serve communities worldwide, the 2029 Games will strengthen international bonds between emergency services, promote cultural exchange, and position India as a premier destination for major international sporting events.

2. 2nd International Olympic Research Conference (IORC 2026)
Building on the success of its inaugural edition in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, which gathered more than 20 international experts and delegates from 14 countries, BCORE proudly announces the 2nd International Olympic Research Conference, scheduled for January 27-30, 2026, at Rashtriya Raksha University, Gandhinagar.
This prestigious gathering will bring together global Olympic studies centers, National Olympic Committees (NOCs), sports administrators, researchers, academics, and policy makers to advance collaborative research and knowledge exchange within the Olympic Movement.
The 2nd edition of the conference is themed around 'Building a Sustainable Olympic Ecosystem through Education, Governance, and Research'. The conference will focus on critical themes including Olympic education, sports development in schools and universities, research methodologies in Olympic studies, governance and ethics in sport, anti-doping strategies and integrity, transparency and accountability in sporting organizations, and affordable sports science innovations for sustainable and accessible performance.
Anti-Doping Workshop: A major highlight of IORC 2026 will be an intensive two-day workshop on anti-doping, conducted in collaboration with the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA). This specialized workshop is designed for forensic science students, researchers, laboratory professionals, and anti-doping officials, providing comprehensive training on testing procedures, analytical methodologies, forensic investigation techniques, and legal frameworks governing anti-doping regulations. With the upcoming RRU Anti-Doping Laboratory, this collaboration represents a strategic step toward building India's capacity in forensic sports science and establishing robust anti-doping infrastructure. Workshop sessions will feature WADA experts delivering global anti-doping knowledge and best practices to address doping issues with research-backed solutions.
Call for Research and Stories: IORC 2026 invites research papers and academic abstracts from scholars and researchers worldwide across all conference themes. In a groundbreaking initiative, BCORE is also introducing a unique "Call for Stories" segment alongside the traditional call for abstracts. This innovative platform is specifically designed for athletes, coaches, and sports practitioners who may not have formal research backgrounds but possess invaluable lived experiences and insights from their sporting journeys.
Through this initiative, athletes and coaches can share their narratives related to training methodologies, overcoming challenges, ethical dilemmas, governance issues, or community sports development in accessible formats. These stories will be documented and presented as part of the conference proceedings, democratizing knowledge creation and ensuring that the voices of those who live and breathe sport every day are valued and preserved. This opens the gates of academic discourse to the entire sporting community, celebrating the diverse experiences that shape the Olympic Movement.
IORC 2026 represents a significant milestone in establishing India as a thought leader in Olympic research, providing a platform for addressing contemporary challenges in global sports governance while fostering international academic partnerships that strengthen the knowledge foundation of the Olympic ecosystem.

3. BCORE Night Run 2026: Uniting Communities Through Olympism
BCORE announces the BCORE Night Run 2026, scheduled for January 10, 2026, in Gandhinagar – a groundbreaking mass participation event designed to promote night safety, inclusivity, and Olympic values across communities. This nighttime run will unite civilians, law enforcement personnel, and para-athletes in a shared celebration of fitness, unity, and the Olympic spirit.
The Night Run embodies BCORE's commitment to making Olympism accessible to all segments of society, breaking barriers between security forces and citizens while promoting safe public spaces during evening hours. The event will feature multiple distance categories to accommodate participants of varying abilities, with special provisions for para-athletes to ensure complete inclusivity. By bringing together diverse communities under the banner of sport and wellness, the BCORE Night Run exemplifies how Olympic values can foster social cohesion and inspire healthier, more connected societies.

Vision for India's Sporting Future
Speaking at the press conference, Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel, Vice-Chancellor of RRU, emphasized the university's transformational role in India's sporting landscape: "Through BCORE and our comprehensive sports infrastructure, we are building not just athletes, but knowledge systems, research capabilities, and international partnerships that will define India's sporting future. From grassroots initiatives like the Night Run to world-class academic conferences and hosting global events like the World Police and Fire Games, each initiative reinforces our commitment to excellence, innovation, and nation-first service."
As Gujarat and India prepare for mega-events including the World Police and Fire Games 2029, Commonwealth Games 2030, and India's 2036 Olympics bid, RRU and BCORE stand at the forefront of building a robust sporting ecosystem grounded in research, inclusivity, and Olympic values.
