Union Minister Dr. L. Murugan releases Tamil version of Government of India’s calendar ‘Bharat@2026’

Calendar reflects Roadmap for developed India by 2047: Dr. L. Murugan

Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs Dr. L. Murugan today released the Tamil Version of Government of India Calendar ‘Bharat @ 2026’ at a function in Chennai

Speaking at the function, Dr. L. Murugan said that the calendar serves as a roadmap for reflecting the country’s progress, development, and future direction of growth with the objective of realizing the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047. He said it was for the first time that the Tamil version of the calendar has been officially released at a function in Tamilnadu. He informed that the official calendar has so far been released in over 13 Scheduled Languages in addition to Hindi and English, ensuring wider outreach and inclusivity.

The Minister said each month in the calendar focuses on the flagship programmes of the Central government with focus on Infrastructure development and social economic reforms initiated by the government. 

Each month of the calendar highlights a key national priority and flagship initiative of the Government:

* January  focuses on Atmanirbhar Bharat, emphasising a self-reliant and self-sufficient economy.

* February highlights Farmer Development, portraying India as the food bowl of the world.

* March signifies Nari Shakti and women empowerment, including the landmark 33% reservation for women in Parliament.

* April underscores the upliftment of the middle class through tax relief, simplification of laws, labour reforms, and improved ease of living.

* May commemorates the exemplary success of Operation Sindoor and the strengthening of defence infrastructure.

* June showcases Ayushman Bharat, improved medical infrastructure,

* July focuses on Healthcare access for underprivileged sections.

* August highlights Youth Empowerment, recognising the vital role of youth in nation-building.

* September focuses on Infrastructure Development, including Gati Shakti, industrial corridors, four- and six-lane highways, expressways, rapid airport expansion, and railway advancements such as Vande Bharat, Pamban rail connectivity, and the proposed bullet train project by 2027.

* October reflects India’s rich cultural heritage and the Government’s efforts to preserve it.

* November emphasises National Unity and Tribal Welfare, commemorating the legacy of Birsa Munda.

* December highlights Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam and India’s aspirations to host the 2036 Olympic Games.

The Director General (South Zone), Shri. V. Palanichamy, Smt. M. Vasuki Additional Director General (Content Operations), All India Radio & Doordarshan, Shri J. Kamaraj, Director, Central Bureau of Communication (CBC) and Shri. P. Arunkumar, Director Press Information Bureau, Chennai, were among the senior officials of the Information and Broadcasting ministry present on the occasion.
