RIE Bhubaneswar, in partnership with SIE, Sri Vijaya Puram, completed a capacity building program for KRPs on the A and N Islands on implementation of Balvatika as per NEP 2020

Regional Institute of Education, NCERT, Bhubaneswar, in collaboration with State Institute of Education, A & N Islands concluded a five day capacity building programme for KRPs on Balvatika as per NEP 2020 at SIE Sri Vijay Puram.


The objective of Balvatika is to facilitate the optimum development of children’s full potential and to lay the foundation for their holistic development. The programme organised for the KRPs of Balvatikas, featured expert led sessions and hands on sessions on NCF-FS 2022, Balvatika norms and guidelines, Understanding socio-emotional development of children, Pedagogy of language and multilingual Classrooms, Early identification of children with disabilities and creating inclusive classroom, Learning assessment and holistic progress card, Play based learning areas in Balvatika , Hands-on session on language development and numeracy activities, Jaaduipitara and e-Jaaduipitara and Partnership with families and communities and home to school transition.
The valedictory session was graced by Prof. Manasi Goswami, Principal, RIE Bhubaneswar. Joining the session virtually, Prof. Goswami highlighted the crucial role of KRPs in effective implementation of Balvatikas for achieving the vision of NEP 2020. She emphasized the need of follow up activities of the capacity building programme by the UT. She advised the KRPs for transaction of competency-based activities in simple, interesting and engaging manner in Balvatikas for holistic development of children.
Addressing the KRPs, Ms. Sangeeta Chand, Principal, SIE, A & N Islands appreciated the academic support of National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) in quality improvement of school education in the UT. She advised the KRPs to be engaged in effective implementation of Balvatikas in their respective schools, cluster and zone.
Prof.Laxmidhar Behera, Head, Department of Education, RIE, Bhubaneswar and coordinator shared about the details of session’s transacted during the five day programme.Forty KRPs attended the programme.In group activities, the KRPs developed plan of action for organising similar prgrammes in their clusters. Prof.Suniti Sanwal, Head, Department of Elementary Education, NCERT, New Delhi guided the KRPs through virtual mode on Balvatika norms. Prof.Padma Yadav, DEE NCERT transacted the sessions on holistic progress card, language and numeracy activities. In their reflection, the KRPs expressed confidence in their ability to organize and carry out comparable programs in their different zones. Coordinated by Prof.Laxmidhar Behera, Dr.Varun Ashokan, RIE Bhubaneswar and Dr. Bency Joy from SIE, the programme provided a strong blend of theory, hands on activities and field exposure. Faculty members from SIE, A & N Islands, including Shri Shaji Thomas, Head of NIPUN, and Sri Sabool Feranadez, Head of Training, Johnson P. John, Sujeet Mallick, were present during the valedictory programme.
