4,769 Cr. allocated in the Railway budget for Uttarakhand

- Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw addressed media via virtual medium

- U'khand railway budget increased by a record 26 times after 2014, projects worth 39,491 crores are underway in the state

- 106 flyovers and underpasses have been constructed in U'khand since 2014, a total of 54 Kavach have been approved

Dehradun: Union Minister of Railways, Minister of Information and Broadcasting and Minister of Electronics and Information Technology Shri Ashwini Vaishnav on Monday addressed the journalists of Uttarakhand and other states through a virtual press conference held at the Press Information Bureau (PIB Dehradun) regarding the railway budget. During this Union Minister expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and said that this time a record capital expenditure budget of Rs 2.93 lakh crore has been allocated to Railways. Shri Vaishnav has also thanked the Union Finance Minister for this allocation. Addressing the reporters, he said that Uttarakhand will also get the benefit of the budget allocation.

Shri. Vaishnaw said that from 2009 to 2014 a budget of only 187 crores was allocated for railway work in Uttarakhand. While in the railway budget (2026-27) Uttarakhand has been allocated a record (26 times more than the railway budget) of 4 thousand 769 crore rupees. 

A total of 39,491 crore projects are underway in Uttarakhand and this major investment includes track construction, station redevelopment and security enhancement in the state. A total of 11 stations in Uttarakhand have been selected for complete redevelopment under the Amrit Station Scheme. A total investment of 147 crores is being made for the modernization of the station.

Under better connectivity, expansion of premium train services, 3 Vande Bharat Express services are running in the state and 1 Amrit Bharat Express service is running.

The railway network in Uttarakhand has grown rapidly in terms of network expansion and 100% electrification. Around 76 km of track has been constructed since 2014. The state has achieved 100% electrification in railways while 334 km of railway lines have been electrified and 106 flyovers and underpasses have been constructed since 2014. A total of 54 armors have been sanctioned so far keeping in view railway safety.

Shri. Vaishnav said that  work on the Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail project is progressing very fast and it is moving towards inauguration phase.
