The Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli has been conferred the prestigious Institutional Excellence Award 2025 by Project Management Associates India (PMA India), the Indian member association of the International Project Management Association (IPMA).

The award was presented at the IPMA Global Project Profession Forum 2026, held on February 13, 2026. Prof. Satish S. Maheswarappa, Dean (Academics), received the award on behalf of the Institute from Dr. Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, Minister for Information Technology and Digital Services, Government of Tamil Nadu.

The Institutional Excellence Award recognises institutions that demonstrate sustained commitment to advancing the discipline and practice of project management through academic rigour, industry engagement, and professional certification outcomes.

In his special address Dr Godwin Tennyson, Director (i/c) of IIM Tiruchirappalli, IIM Tiruchirappalli has been offering project management-related courses as electives in its MBA programmes and has also trained many executives on this topic through several management development programmes. The institute has also launched the Post Graduate Certificate Programme in Advanced Infrastructure Project Management, offered through blended learning, on February 22, 2026. I thank IPMA and PMA for this significant recognition as we continue striving for higher benchmarks through our endeavours.

As part of its academic portfolio, IIM Tiruchirappalli offers project management-related courses across multiple programmes, including the postgraduate and executive education offerings.

 

The Institute has consistently integrated conceptual foundations with applied learning, equipping students with globally benchmarked project management competencies.

Notably, several Post Graduate Program in Management students have successfully cleared the IPMA Level D Certification, leveraging the learnings from the project management elective offered at the Institute. This reflects a strong alignment between classroom pedagogy and internationally recognised professional standards.

By enabling students to pursue globally accredited certifications alongside their academic training, the Institute reinforces its commitment to developing industry-ready professionals capable of managing complex and large-scale projects.

In a significant step towards strengthening specialised capacity in the infrastructure domain, IIM Tiruchirappalli has inaugurated the Post Graduate Certificate Programme in Advanced Infrastructure Project Management.

The launch of this certificate programme further reinforces the Institute’s commitment to bridging academic insight with sector-specific professional capability. By expanding structured learning in infrastructure project management, IIM Tiruchirappalli continues to contribute meaningfully to capacity building in a domain that is critical to national development.
