The Raman Research Institute (RRI) is celebrating annual National Science Day on February 28th, 2026, commemorating the 98th anniversary of Sir C.V. Raman’s Nobel Prize-winning discovery of the 'Raman Effect.' To mark this historic milestone and foster scientific temper among the youth, the Institute will host an 'Open Day' featuring a vibrant array of engaging programs, scientific demonstrations, and interactive activities spread across its iconic campus. The event serves as a premier platform for students and the general public to explore the frontiers of modern physics while understanding foundational scientific concepts in an accessible environment.

The day-long celebration will showcase the Institute's ongoing cutting-edge research through specialized scientific display stalls organized by RRI research groups and facilities. Visitors will have the unique opportunity to interact directly with research scholars and engineers, participating in hands-on experiments designed to ignite curiosity. This year, the event has already seen an overwhelming response, with over 1,000 students from various government and private schools in and around Bengaluru confirming their attendance. In addition to the exhibitions, the festivities include exciting competitions such as science quizzes, photography contests, and creative costume displays, offering a multifaceted approach to exploring the wonders of science.

The 'Open Day' will be conducted in two dedicated sessions: the morning session from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM and the afternoon session from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. A formal felicitation ceremony to honor the winners of the various competitions is scheduled to begin at 3:00 PM. RRI invites students, educators, and the general public to join in this celebration of discovery and innovation.
