A citizen journalism initiative of the Regional News Unit (RNU), Doordarshan Kendra Itanagar, titled “Mera Gaon, Meri Kahani”, aimed at encouraging residents to share authentic stories from their villages and communities, was formally launched on Wednesday at Doordarshan Kendra, Itanagar.
The initiative was jointly launched by a distinguished panel of guests including Deputy Commissioner, Papum Pare, Vishaka Yadav, IAS; Supreme Court Advocate Jyoti Zongluzu; internationally accomplished model physique athlete Hillang Yajik; Padma Shri awardee and Mount Everest summiteer Dr. Anshu Jamsenpa; Joint Director (News) & Regional News Unit Head Utsav Parmar, IIS; DDK Itanagar Head of Office Rajeev Kumar; Head of Programme Grace L. Pachuau; and Assistant Engineer Amrit Lal Saroj.
Addressing the gathering, Joint Director (News) and RNU Head Utsav Parmar stated that Arunachal Pradesh is geographically vast and culturally diverse, making comprehensive coverage through stringers alone a challenge. He said the initiative aims to involve citizens directly in documenting grassroots-level social, cultural, and developmental activities from across the state.
Head of Office Rajeev Kumar appreciated the initiative and observed that citizen participation would play a vital role in highlighting grassroots development while strengthening community engagement in public service broadcasting.
Under the initiative, citizens can submit original, factual, and constructive content related to education, health, local entrepreneurship, culture, environment, and social initiatives. Written submissions should be between 150 and 300 words. Photographs must be clear and accompanied by captions, while videos may range from 30 seconds to 10 minutes in duration.
Submissions of Mera Gao Meri Kahani are accepted in Hindi, English, or Regional/local dialects, with translations in Hindi or English where required. Contributors must provide their full name, village or town, district, and contact number. Each submission must clearly mention the date, time, and location of the content.

DD News will verify contributors’ identities and fact-check submissions in accordance with editorial guidelines. Any fake, misleading, political, defamatory, copyrighted, or sensitive material affecting privacy, public order, or security will be rejected.
Entries should be emailed to rnu26cj[at]gmail[dot]com with the subject line “Mera Gaon, Meri Kahani”. DD News Arunachal Pradesh reserves the right to edit content, decide the platform of publication, and exercise final editorial authority. Submission does not guarantee broadcast or any form of payment.
The programme was attended by faculty members and students from National Institute of Technology Arunachal Pradesh and Rajiv Gandhi University. A cultural troupe presented traditional Adi and Nyishi dances, adding a vibrant cultural dimension to the event.
