The three-day “Roorkee Water Conclave 2026,” jointly organized by the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee and the National Institute of Hydrology, concluded on Tuesday at IIT Roorkee, bringing together leading experts, researchers, and policymakers from India and abroad. Over the course of three days, the conclave emerged as a vibrant platform for dialogue and knowledge exchange on water cooperation, sustainable management, and emerging global challenges in the water sector.
Delivering the valedictory address, Conclave Convener Prof. Ashish Pandey presented a summary of the technical and keynote sessions, highlighting active participation and thoughtful discussions on themes such as water quality, transboundary cooperation, sustainable irrigation, and conservation. He thanked the speakers, delegates, sponsors, and organizing team for their collective efforts in ensuring the success of the event.

Prof. R. D. Garg, Acting Director of the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, observed that forums of this nature play a vital role in connecting scientific research with practical solutions to real-world challenges. A. R. Senthil, Acting Director of the National Institute of Hydrology, noted that the conclave strengthened institutional collaboration and would contribute meaningfully to advancing water resource management practices.
Distinguished guest Prof. Nicola Fohrer from Germany emphasized the importance of international cooperation and knowledge-sharing in addressing global water challenges. During the ceremony, outstanding oral and poster presentations were recognized with awards, encouraging young researchers to continue contributing to the field.

Chief Guest Prof. V. P. Singh congratulated the organizers and underscored the importance of sustainable and efficient water resource management, supported by scientific research, sound policy, and community participation. He urged participants to translate the insights gained during the conclave into impactful action.
The session was anchored by Prof. Kritika Kothari, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Rajesh Singh of the National Institute of Hydrology. With the closing ceremony, the Roorkee Water Conclave 2026 concluded on a note of collaboration and renewed commitment, reinforcing the importance of research-driven solutions and collective efforts in securing the future of water resources.
