Panaji, Goa, 7 March2026:
The National Institute of Watersports (NIWS) – Indian Institute of Tourism & Travel Management (IITTM), Goa, successfully conducted a series of specialised Adventure Watersports Training Programmes for officials nominated by the Directorate of Air Force Adventure (DAFA) of the Indian Air Force.

The training programmes were aimed at enhancing adventure skills, water safety awareness and operational knowledge among Air Force personnel through professional instruction in various watersports disciplines. Under this initiative, officials of the Indian Air Force underwent structured training in activities such as Life Saving Techniques, Powerboat Handling, Sailing (Basic and Intermediate), Windsurfing (Basic and Intermediate), Scuba Diving and Personal Watercraft (Jet-Ski) Operations.

The programmes were conducted from 2 to 6 February 2026 at the NIWS–IITTM campus in Goa under the guidance of certified and experienced instructors, who provided both theoretical and practical training to the participants. The curriculum focused on the safe operation of motorised and non-motorised watersports equipment, while emphasising personal safety, equipment safety and environmental responsibility.

The Directorate of Air Force Adventure regularly collaborates with NIWS to organise such training programmes every year. Officers and personnel from various ranks—including Wing Commanders, Lieutenant Colonels, Colonels, Flight Lieutenants, Sergeants and Junior Warrant Officers—participate in these courses to enhance their adventure capabilities, leadership skills and resilience in challenging environments. Apart from professional training, the programme also provided participants with an opportunity to experience the coastal ecosystem, culture and cuisine of Goa, making the programme both professionally enriching and culturally engaging.
