Central Bureau of Communication organises Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme (ICOP) and Government Saturation Camp in Chennai

The Central Bureau of Communication, Chennai organised an Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme (ICOP) and Government Saturation Camp in Chennai at Saligramam, Chennai on 07 March 2026. Over 150 Beneficiaries Enrolled in various Central Schemes.

 

The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Regional Office, Chennai, today organised a two-day Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme (ICOP) and Government Saturation Programme at Sudharma Community Hall, Saligramam, Chennai. The event aimed at ensuring the seamless delivery of various National Flagship Schemes of the Government of India to the last mile.

 

The outreach programme featured an extensive exhibition of central schemes and hosted six dedicated stalls to facilitate on-the-spot grievance redressal and beneficiary enrolment. Services provided included Aadhaar updation and name corrections, issuance of Ayushman Bharat Health Cards, enrolment of senior citizens above 70 years into the Ayushman Bharath Vaya Vandana Yojana, and distribution of cylinders under the PM Ujjwala Yojana. More than 150 participants successfully enrolled in various schemes during the camp.

 

Addressing the gathering as the Chief Guest, Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, Former Governor of Telangana and Puducherry, lauded the CBC for its swift initiative in organising the camp. Highlighting the impact of financial inclusion, she noted that over 3 Lakh Crore has been disbursed under the PM MUDRA Yojana in Tamil Nadu alone. "Of these beneficiaries, 68% are women and 11% belong to minority communities," she stated. She further emphasized the success of the healthcare sector, noting that more than 1 Crore Ayushman Bharat cards have been issued in the state. She encouraged citizens to proactively enrol in government schemes to contribute toward the larger goal of nation-building.

Mr. S. Vijayakumar, Regional Passport Officer, Chennai, provided a detailed presentation on the 'Passport Seva Project,' describing it as a one-stop centre for all passport-related needs. He briefed the participants on the various categories of passports available and the simplified single-click application process for document submission.

Speaking on the economic potential of the tourism industry, Mr. Venkatesan Dattatreyan, Regional Director (South Zone), India Tourism, delivered a talk on opportunities for homemakers, women, and aspiring entrepreneurs. He highlighted the global recognition of India’s hospitality and hotel management sectors, urging the younger generation to capitalise on the current boom in the tourism sector.

Earlier, in his welcome address, Mr. J. Kamaraj, Director, CBC RO Chennai, underscored the comprehensive nature of the Government’s welfare initiatives, stating that schemes are available to support citizens "from womb to tomb." He urged the public to utilise such saturation camps to ensure no eligible beneficiary is left behind.

The dignitaries distributed enrolment acknowledgements and registration certificates to the new beneficiaries during the technical sessions of the programme.
