CSIR–CSMCRI Marks Women’s Day with Empowerment and Awareness Programs

CSIR–Central Salt & Marine Chemicals Research Institute (CSIR–CSMCRI), Bhavnagar, celebrated International Women's Day on 11 March 2026 with a series of awareness and engagement activities highlighting the importance of women’s empowerment, safety, and wellbeing. The program began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by an address from Dr. Arup Ghosh, the Director of CSIR–CSMCRI, who emphasized the significant contributions of women in science and the need for an inclusive and respectful workplace. An awareness session on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act was conducted and addresses by Dr. (Mrs.) Subarna Maiti, Sr. Principal Scientist explaining the key provisions of the Act and the importance of maintaining a safe professional environment. Dr. KB Pandey, a Principal Scientist at CSMCRI informed that the event also featured an informative address on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) by Dr. Sejal Chauhan, MD, consultant physician & intensivist, highlighting essential life-saving techniques during medical emergencies. The celebration concluded with a vibrant cultural program presented by AcSIR science club students, reflecting creativity, struggle, enthusiasm, and appreciation for women’s contributions to science and society.
