Netflix today announced the launch of Eyeline Studios, its global production and innovation studio in Hyderabad, expanding its presence in India and marking a significant long-term capability investment in India’s Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics (AVGC) ecosystem. The launch aligns with Netflix’s global strategy to expand its production innovation infrastructure.

Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Shri Sanjay Jaju, highlighted Hyderabad’s growing prominence as a centre for creative technologies, audiovisual storytelling and digital entertainment. Speaking at the launch of Eyeline Studios, he noted that the city has emerged as a vibrant hub of talent and innovation, with a rapidly expanding media and entertainment ecosystem.

He noted that India has a rich tradition of storytelling, but the formats and platforms of storytelling are rapidly evolving with technological advancements. Today, entertainment lies at the intersection of art and technology, and initiatives such as Eyeline will play a significant role in shaping the future of storytelling.

Shri Jaju said Eyeline Studios will serve as an important centre in South Asia, integrating technological innovation with the art of storytelling and creating new opportunities for the audiovisual and entertainment sectors.

Referring to the World Audiovisual Entertainment Summit held in Mumbai last year, he recalled that the Hon’ble Prime Minister emphasised the importance of the “Orange Economy”, which focuses on creative and cultural industries. He also highlighted that the Union Budget announced the establishment of 15,000 content creator labs in schools and 500 in colleges across the country, expected to generate nearly two million jobs in the creative sector.

 

Shri Jaju expressed confidence that Hyderabad would play a key role in this growth due to its strong presence in the Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics (AVGC) sector. He noted that the city has already produced globally acclaimed films such as Baahubali and hosts several international studios engaged in production and post-production work.

 

He also announced that the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) will soon open a regional campus in Hyderabad, further strengthening the ecosystem for creative technologies and content creation.

 

Shri Jaju said Hyderabad’s vibrant Telugu film industry, which produces several pan-India and multilingual films, will benefit from the presence of global platforms such as Netflix and initiatives like Eyeline, leading to increased opportunities for high-quality content creation.
