The Department of Posts Launches Premium ‘24 Speed Post’ and ‘48 Speed Post’ Services to Boost Time-Definite Delivery Network

Mumbai, 17 March 2026

The Department of Posts (DoP), Ministry of Communications, Government of India, today launched three new premium delivery services — 24 Speed Post, 24 Speed Post Parcel, and 48 Speed Post — at the national level, aimed at strengthening India Post’s capabilities in the rapidly expanding express logistics and time-definite delivery segment.

The product launch event was held under the chairmanship of Hon’ble Union Minister of Communications, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, in the presence of Hon’ble Minister of State for Communications, Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani; Secretary (Posts), Ms. Vandita Kaul; Director General Postal Services, Shri Jitendra Gupta; and Member (Operations), Shri Harpreet Singh.

These premium services have initially been launched across six metro cities and will be expanded to Tier-1 and Tier-2 cities in a phased manner to ensure wider coverage and enhanced service reach. The six metro cities were virtually connected during the launch event.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia emphasized that India Post possesses a unique combination of “scale and trust” that remains unmatched by global competitors. He further stated that the new services will leverage dedicated processing mechanisms and priority air conveyance, ensuring faster connectivity between major metropolitan cities and key business hubs.

The services have been introduced to meet the growing demand for faster, secure, and guaranteed delivery solutions for businesses, financial institutions, government organisations, and individual customers. The initiative marks a significant step towards modernising India Post’s logistics network and enhancing customer experience across the country.

Key Features of the New Services:

I) 24 Speed Post (D+1 Delivery):

Guaranteed next-day delivery between six major metro cities — New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad

Assured delivery timelines with compensation in case of delay

Real-time tracking and OTP-based delivery confirmation

Delivery available on Sundays and holidays (except Republic Day, Independence Day, and Gandhi Jayanti)

II) 48 Speed Post (D+2 Delivery):

Assured delivery within two days between the same metro cities

End-to-end tracking, SMS alerts, and secure delivery confirmation

A reliable option for time-bound document delivery

III) 24 Speed Post Parcel:

Next-day delivery for time-sensitive parcels

Assured timelines with compensation in case of delay

Delivery available on Sundays and holidays (except national holidays)

Especially beneficial for e-commerce companies, MSMEs, and start-ups

On this occasion, Shri Amitabh Singh, Chief Postmaster General, Maharashtra Circle, released a Special Cancellation commemorating the launch of these services.

The event was attended by Ms. Kaiya Arora, Postmaster General, Mumbai Region; Ms. Simran Kaur, Director Postal Services (HQ); and Ms. Rekha Rizvi, Director, Mumbai GPO, along with senior officials, media representatives, and esteemed customers.

The release of the Special Cancellation was followed by an interactive session with the press, media, and invited customers.

The launch of these premium services reflects the Department of Posts’ commitment to innovation, efficiency, and customer-centric service delivery. With these offerings, India Post further strengthens its position in the premium express delivery segment and continues to serve as a trusted national logistics partner supporting businesses and citizens across the country.
