Chhattisgarh media delegation on the second day of their Madhya Pradesh media tour, visited the ICAR-National Soybean Research Institute (ICAR-NSRI) in Indore. During the visit, the journalists directly observed the latest research in the field of soybean and the technologies being developed for farmers and entrepreneurs.

Interacting with the media during the visit, Dr. Kunwar Harendra Singh, Director of ICAR-NSRI, said, "Our institute is not only focusing on developing high-yielding soybean varieties, but we are also active in doubling farmers' income through value addition. We have developed a state-of-the-art Incubation Centre at the institute, where new entrepreneurs are provided with technical assistance and training for manufacturing soy milk and other soybean-based products. The 'Technology Transfer' process facilitated by ICAR aims to promote agribusiness and connect rural youth with self-employment."

During the visit, it was also shared that new businesses are being empowered through technology transfer by the institute. Established in 1987, the institute conducts basic and strategic research to increase soybean productivity. Recently, the institute has developed high-yielding and drought-tolerant varieties such as NRC 136, NRC 131, and NRC 157. The media delegation appreciated these achievements and the institute's contribution toward the national goal of increasing oilseed production. The delegation includes journalists from various prestigious media organizations of Chhattisgarh, who are covering various projects and innovations of the Central Government through this six-day tour.
