Legacy and Innovation Highlight 73rd CSIR-CSMCRI Foundation Day

CSIR-Central Salt & Marine Chemicals Research Institute (CSMCRI), Bhavnagar, marked its 73rd Foundation Day with a grand celebration, highlighting its legacy of scientific excellence and future aspirations. The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr. J. R. Chunawala, Chief Scientist, & Chairperson of the Foundation Day Committee. He set the tone for the day by reflecting on the institute’s remarkable journey and contributions to science and society.

Dr. Kannan Srinivasan, Outstanding Scientist emphasized institute’s pioneering role in marine chemicals & salt research, and highlighted CSIR’s contribution in up-liftment of science in country in his special address. The program featured distinguished lectures by Dr. Subeer S. Majumdar, Director General, Gujarat Biotechnology University, who shared insights into biotechnology advancements and innovations. Prof. Sirimavo Nair, MS University, Baroda, in her keynote address, delivered an inspiring talk on fortified rice and its health benefits. The highlight of the celebration was the Foundation Day Address by Dr. Arup Ghosh, Director, CSIR-CSMCRI, who delivered an inspiring speech on the institute’s vision, achievements, and future roadmap. Adding to the significance of the occasion, Dr. Manish Kumar, District Collector & DM, Bhavnagar, addressed the gathering, expecting future possibilities of collaboration with CSIR-CSMCRI for the development of Bhavnagar district.

The Chief Guest, Smt. Nimuben Jayantibhai Bambhaniya, MP & Hon’ble Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Government of India, delivered a special address, commending CSIR-CSMCRI’s role in advancing research, and supporting national priorities. She extended her best wishes to all employees of the institute. Dr. KB Pandey, Principal Scientist informed that the institute was open to science enthusiasts as well as school and college students, providing them an opportunity to visit and gain insights into the ongoing research and development activities under Jigyasa. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Shri Biranchi Sarang, CoA, CSIR-CSMCRI, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, participants, and staff for making the celebration memorable. The 73rd Foundation Day reaffirmed CSIR-CSMCRI’s commitment to scientific innovation, collaboration, and service to the nation.
