Veteran Singer Asha Bhosle Laid to Rest with Full State Honours
President, Vice President, Prime Minister condole the demise of the Legendary Singer

Veteran singer Asha Bhosle, who passed away on 12th April, 2026 at the age of 92, was laid to rest with full state honours in Shivaji Park, Mumbai today. President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu; Vice President Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan; Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi; and Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, along with eminent personalities from the music fraternity and other spheres of society, condoled the demise of the legendary singer.
Condoling the singer’s demise, the President of India Smt Droupadi Murmu said that an era has come to an end with her passing and that her voice will live on in the hearts of millions.
Vice President Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan expressed profound grief over the demise of Smt. Asha Bhosle, stating that her passing has created an irreplaceable void in the field of music and that she was among the most versatile voices in Indian cinema.
Expressing deep grief, the Prime Minister said that her passing is a profound loss to the cultural world.
Maharashtra Governor Shri Jishnu Dev Varma laid a wreath on the mortal remains of Smt. Asha Bhosle by visiting her residence in Mumbai.
Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Devendra Fadnavis, paid his last respects to veteran singer, Smt. Asha Bhosle and offered heartfelt tributes to her.
Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, said that her demise is an immense loss to Indian music. Offering tribute, the Union Minister said that her contribution to Indian music was unparalleled.
Smt. Asha Bhosle was conferred with the Padma Vibhushan (2008), Dadasaheb Phalke Award (2000) and National Film Awards in recognition of her extraordinary and enduring contributions to Indian music and cinema, cementing her legacy as one of the most celebrated and influential voices in the country’s musical heritage.

Smt. Asha Bhosle was among the most versatile playback singers in Indian cinema, with a career spanning several decades and thousands of songs in multiple languages.
