The National Academy of Direct Taxes (NADT), Nagpur, has begun the BRICS Young Tax Professionals (YTP) Working Group Capacity Building Workshop on 20 April 2026, marking a significant initiative under India’s BRICS Chairship for 2026.

The week-long workshop, being held from 20 to 26 April 2026, has brought together participants from various BRICS member nations, including India, reflecting growing cooperation and engagement among emerging economies in the field of taxation. Participants from Brazil (3), Russia (4), China (3), South Africa (2), UAE (2), Ethiopia (2), and India (6) are taking part in the workshop.

Shri Prasenjit Singh, Member (Legislation), Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), graced the inaugural session as the Chief Guest. In his inaugural address, he highlighted the importance of international collaboration in addressing emerging tax challenges and emphasized the role of young tax professionals in shaping a transparent, fair, and resilient global tax system. DG (Trg.), NADT gave an overview of the course spanning five days, in which various emerging topics will be covered along with discussions through Tax Forums.

The workshop is being organised under India’s BRICS Chairship 2026, aligned with the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability” and the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of inclusive, people-centric global partnerships. It aims to equip participants with global perspectives and technical expertise in international taxation, including transfer pricing and cross-border tax frameworks. Key discussions cover BEPS initiatives, OECD and UN Model Conventions, global tax reforms such as Pillar One and Pillar Two, and dispute resolution mechanisms like APA and MAP. The programme also features BRICS Tax Forum discussions to promote dialogue, exchange best practices, and strengthen cooperation, underscoring India’s commitment to capacity building and a more equitable global tax ecosystem.
