ICAR-National Bureau of Agricultural Insect Resources (NBAIR), Bengaluruset off a series of events from 20 April 2026 onwards, under Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav (MGMG) programme, a flagship government initiative to enhance farmer outreach and to build field-level confidence.
The key activities planned under this programme include, awareness campaigns on balanced fertilizer use, promotion of alternative and sustainable agricultural practices, crop planning for reduced fertilizer dependency, famer awareness and capacity building and public outreach and behavioural change communication.
As part of this programme, Scientists at the Bureau will be directly interacting with farmers in Karnataka and in Tamil Nadu at various places to make them aware about the various alternatives with special emphasis on Green manuring using Daincha, Sunn hemp, cow pea, Moong etc. and other organic substitutes to reduce the chemical fertilizers in farmers field which ultimately increases the soil fertility and reduce the costs of production.

Scientists will explain about the microbial consortium and aim to mobilize the farmers in order to promote the soil health and Balanced Fertilizer Use. The field level interaction with farmers helps to accelerate the "lab-to-land" process by bringing scientific knowledge directly to farmers' doorsteps, addressing agricultural problems, and increasing farm income.
