DoT Gujarat LSA and Gujarat Police felicitates top-performing District Nodal Officers for excellence in recovery of mobile handsets.

Posted On: 30 APR 2026 3:54PM by PIB Ahmedabad

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Gujarat License Area has launched a citizen-centric portal, Sanchar Saathi, which includes the CEIR (Central Equipment Identity Register) module that empowers citizens to block, trace, and recover lost or stolen mobile devices. This initiative enhances national security, prevents misuse of stolen handsets, and serves as a key mechanism in combating telecom-related fraud and mobile theft across the country.

To further strengthen district-level adoption and operational efficiency, Gujarat LSA, DoT has introduced a CEIR Ranking framework, which evaluates and ranks districts police based on their effective utilization and performance under CEIR portal. This initiative encourages healthy competition, promotes best practices, and supports continuous improvement in district-level mobile recovery efforts made by police authorities.

The ranking data has been prepared using CEIR performance data collected from 01.04.2025 to 31.03.2026 for FY 2025-26. Based on above mentioned criterion, the top three districts/area of police based on their performance during F.Y. 2025-26 are as listed below:

As part of this initiative, the above top three District/area Nodal Officers were recognized for their exemplary performance in CEIR implementation and operations and they were felicitated with a Shield and Certificate as a token of appreciation and encouragement.

Out of these, 31,47,254 handsets have been traced and 10,25,928 handsets have been successfully recovered at the national level. This corresponds to a recovery rate of 32.6% at the national level.

In Gujarat, a total of 1,83,985 mobile handsets have been blocked, of which 1,14,670 have been traced and 53,564 have been successfully recovered. This translates to a recovery rate of 46.71%, which is significantly higher than the national average, placing Gujarat 3rd among bigger States in terms of mobile handset recovery percentage.

The shields and certificates were conferred by the Dr K.L.N.Rao DGP, Gujarat  and Sh. S. Ajith Kumar, Additional DGT, Gujarat LSA during a formal ceremony on 29.04.2026.
