The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER), Puducherry celebrated International Nurses Day with great enthusiasm and pride on 12th May 2026 in theirpremises. The celebration was conducted to honour the dedication, compassion, and invaluable contribution of nurses towards patient care and healthcare services. The theme for this year’s celebration was:“Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives.”

Mrs. L. Saroja, Nursing Superintendent, JIPMER welcomed the gathering. Prof. Dr. Jagdish Menon, Acting Medical Superintendent, JIPMER graced the celebration as the Chief Guest and felicitated the winners and participants of the various competitions conducted during the Nurses Day celebrations.

As part of the programme, the Nightingale Pledge was administered and the ICN theme along with the Annual Report was presented by Ms. K. Pushpalatha, Officer-In-Charge. Mrs. S. Saraswathi, Nursing Superintendent, JIPMER, presented the report on Nurses Day Events 2026.

In connection with Nurses Day 2026, various sports and cultural competitions were conducted for the nursing fraternity with active participation and enthusiastic involvement from staff across departments. These events promoted teamwork, unity, leadership, physical fitness, and cultural talent among nurses, adding vibrant spirit to the celebration.

The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Mrs. Jane Mary Andrew, Nursing Superintendent, JIPMER.
