CBI arrests two more accused from Ahilyanagar and Pune in NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two more accused persons and conducted searches at 14 locations across the country in the last 24 hours in connection with the alleged paper leak related to the NEET-UG 2026 examination.

The CBI had registered the case on May 12, 2026, based on a complaint received from the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India, regarding alleged irregularities in the conduct of the NEET-UG 2026 examination.

Earlier, five accused persons were arrested in the case, including three from Jaipur, one from Gurugram and one from Nashik. All five accused were produced before the competent court in Delhi today and have been remanded to seven days of police custody for further interrogation.

Continuing its nationwide operations launched on May 12, 2026, special teams of the CBI arrested two more accused persons in the last 24 hours — one from Pune and another from Ahilyanagar in Maharashtra.

The accused arrested are:

Mr. Dhananjay Lokhanda, Ahilyanagar

Smt. Manisha Waghmare, Pune

Several other suspects are currently under interrogation and further investigation is underway.

The CBI stated that it is pursuing all leads related to the case and remains committed to conducting a comprehensive, impartial and professional investigation.
