As part of the House-Listing and Housing Census Operations for Census-2027, the Government provided an optional self enumeration (SE) facility to citizens in Maharashtra between 01 May 2026 and 15 May 2026.
The Self Enumeration facility was introduced to make the census process easier and more convenient for the public. Through a dedicated web portal, households were able to fill in their census details online at their convenience.
During the notified period, a total of 12,60,950 households initiated the self enumeration process. Out of these, 11,14,277 households successfully completed the self enumeration process. The summary of the number of households that utilised the facility and got themselves successfully self-enumerated in the state during the SE notified period is as follows:

Households that have successfully completed self enumeration are required to share the self enumeration ID (SE ID), an 11-digit number beginning with the letter “H”, with the Enumerator during the field visit. This will help complete the data collection process smoothly.
The Directorate has clarified that households which did not use the self enumeration facility, or those that could not complete the process online, need not worry. Enumerators will visit all households across the state for physical enumeration between 16 May 2026 and 14 June 2026.
Citizens have been requested to cooperate with the Enumerators and provide accurate information during the census exercise.
