V.O. Chidambaranar Port conducts ‘Port Safety Workshop 2026'

V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority, Tuticorin organised the “Port Safety Workshop 2026” on the theme ‘Strengthening Safety Across Port Operations’, reaffirming its commitment towards safer, secure and resilient port operations on 18 May 2026.

In his address, Shri Susanta Kumar Purohit, IRSEE, Chairperson, Port Authority highlighted the Port’s continued commitment towards operational excellence, sustainable growth and strengthening safety systems across all areas of port operations.

Shri Rajesh Soundararajan, IAS, Deputy Chairperson, outlined the strategic vision and roadmap for enhancing operational preparedness, safety governance and resilience within the port ecosystem.

Sharing his insights during the workshop, Shri Subrat Tripathy, Advisor Strategic Management, Adani Group, emphasised the importance of integrated safety practices, industry collaboration and proactive risk management in strengthening operational excellence across ports.

 

Shri P. Raveendran, Principal Advisor, VOC Port, emphasised that safety is a continuous process and must always be adhered to without compromise, to ensure a secure, efficient, and incident-free working environment across port operations. Shri Debi Prasad Dash, Principal Advisor, VOC Port, emphasised that adequate briefing on the work, safety requirements, use of personal protective equipment, and adherence to standard operating procedures are essential to ensure safe and efficient execution of works, while fostering a culture of vigilance, accountability, and zero tolerance towards unsafe practices.

    The sessions highlighted the importance of strengthening operational safety standards, enhancing preparedness mechanisms, promoting workplace wellbeing, adopting behavioural safety practices and ensuring compliance with safety measures across port operations.

The prize were distributed for various competitions and activities conducted as part of the event, including Debate, Quiz, Rangoli and training sessions, encouraging greater safety awareness and participation among stakeholders. Shri T. Ramesh, Senior Deputy Traffic Manager, VOC Port Authority delivered the vote of thanks. As part of this program, Safety guide also released by dignitaries.
