The State level Coordinator for Oil Industry in Tamil Nadu & Puducherry, Shri V C Asokan, issued a statement today stating that Public Sector Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) including IndianOil, BPCL, and HPCL are continuing extensive operations and logistics coordination across the country to guarantee the uninterrupted availability of Petrol, Diesel, and LPG. This sustained effort comes in response to a sudden and sharp increase in fuel demand witnessed across several regions in recent days.

The significantly higher offtake of petroleum products is primarily driven by seasonal agricultural activity and ongoing harvesting operations across multiple states. Additionally, demand pressure has emerged from the migration of retail customers to Public Sector Retail Outlets due to their lower prices compared to other suppliers, alongside a visible shift of institutional and commercial consumers to retail fuel outlets.

To efficiently meet this enhanced demand scenario, Public Sector OMCs are continuously reviewing stock positions and closely coordinating logistics and distribution planning. Supplies are being maintained seamlessly through a vast nationwide network of terminals, depots, pipelines, LPG bottling plants, and retail outlets. Supply teams, transport networks, terminal operations, and select Retail Outlets are functioning 24x7 to ensure timely market replenishment, while close coordination is being maintained with state administrations.

The Oil Industry has reassured consumers that adequate stocks of Petrol, Diesel, and LPG are available across the country, and all necessary measures are in place to maintain smooth supplies. Citizens are advised to maintain normal purchasing behaviour, avoid unnecessary panic buying, and rely only on official communications issued by authorised agencies and OMCs for accurate information.
