Mega Edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle Celebrated Nationwide to Mark World Bicycle Day

The landmark edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle was successfully organised across the nation to mark World Bicycle Day, witnessing massive participation from citizens, athletes, institutions, and fitness enthusiasts at thousands of locations across India.

The special edition of Sundays on Cycle brought together participants from diverse sectors, including CRPF units, Indian Air Force establishments, CISF, ITBP, CGDA, ESIC, Police departments, Sports Academies, Khelo India Centres, Educational institutions, Cycling clubs, Software companies, and fitness enthusiasts from across the country. The event showcased the spirit of Jan Bhagidari and reinforced the message of fitness, sustainability, and a pro-environment approach.

The event witnessed grand success across Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Telangana, where thousands of participants enthusiastically joined the cycling movement at multiple centres and locations. The celebrations created a vibrant atmosphere of unity, fitness, and a collective step towards a sustainable, clean, and green India.
The nationwide celebrations were further elevated by the participation of several prominent cycling clubs. Major participating locations included:
- Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh
- Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh
- Eluru, Andhra Pradesh
- Hyderabad, Telangana
- Secunderabad, Telangana
- Medchal, Telangana
- Mulugu, Telangana
- Bengaluru, Karnataka
- Sagara, Karnataka
- Madikeri, Karnataka
- Mysuru, Karnataka
- Dharwad, Karnataka
At the Sports Authority of India, NSSC Bengaluru, the Bengaluru edition of the event was flagged off by renowned Indian Olympians Sandeep Kumar Punia and Priyanka Goswami. Their inspiring presence added immense energy and motivation to the gathering, highlighting the importance of fitness, discipline, and sports in national development. More than 500 participants took part in the event.

Participants enthusiastically joined cycling rallies and fitness activities, promoting the vision of “Fitness Ka Dose, Aadha Ghanta Roz” under the Fit India Movement envisioned by Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
This edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle was organised as a nationwide tribute to India’s journey towards clean and green mobility and reducing dependency on fossil fuels.
Fit India Movement was launched on 29th August, 2019 by Honorable Prime Minister with a view to make fitness an integral part of our daily lives. The mission of the movement is to bring about behavioral changes and move towards a more physically active lifestyle. It has since grown into a nationwide movement under the banner of Sundays on Cycle, engaging over 30 lakh cycling enthusiasts and reaching more than 7 crore citizens through on-ground activities, social media outreach, and various public engagement initiatives.

The campaign has consistently expanded beyond cycling by incorporating Yoga, Zumba, Rope skipping, Recreational sports, and wellness activities, making fitness accessible, engaging, and inclusive for people of all age groups. Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi has repeatedly highlighted the initiative in Mann Ki Baat, reinforcing the message of “Fitness Ka Dose, Aadha Ghanta Roz” as a cornerstone of a healthier and fitter India.
The successful conduct of the event across the country further strengthened the Fit India Movement’s objective of encouraging active lifestyles and creating a vibrant sporting culture among citizens, particularly the youth.
