The first meeting of the Inter Media Publicity Coordination Committee (IMPCC), Nagaland for 2026 was held today at Akashvani Kohima.

Constituted by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, the IMPCC brings together Central and State Government departments and media units to strengthen public communication, coordinate media outreach, and address misinformation. The meeting was attended by representatives from PIB, CBC, Doordarshan, Akashvani, DIPR Nagaland, and the Directorate of Census Operations, Nagaland.

Addressing the meeting, Dr. K. Miachieo, Director of Census Operations, Nagaland, briefed members on the preparations and awareness campaign for Census 2027. He informed that the first phase, House Listing Operation, will be conducted in Nagaland from July 1 to July 30, 2026, preceded by a Self-Enumeration facility from June 16 to June 30, 2026 through the official Census portal. Over 6,100 enumerators and supervisors have been deployed for the exercise.

The Director highlighted the extensive media outreach plan involving print, radio, television, and digital platforms, including awareness programmes in 15 local dialects, Nagamese, and English. He emphasized the importance of accurate census data for development planning and appealed to citizens to cooperate with census officials and provide correct information.

Chairing the meeting, P. Sophie, Head of Office, PIB Kohima, stressed the importance of a coordinated, theme-based media strategy leveraging modern communication tools to maximize public awareness. He also urged stakeholders to work closely with PIB in countering misinformation related to government programmes and initiatives.

The meeting deliberated on various outreach and publicity measures to ensure effective dissemination of information and the successful conduct of Census 2027 in Nagaland.
