The Secretary also visited the University's specialized Goat Unit, where he took a keen interest in the advanced breeding and reproductive biotechnology programmes.

A major highlight of the tour was the Secretary's visit of India's pioneering Goat Semen Freezing Facility housed within the Goat Unit. Appreciating the University's efforts in genetic improvement, conservation, and dissemination of superior goat germplasm, Shri Gangwar discussed the vital role such technologies play in enhancing small ruminant productivity and uplifting rural livelihoods.

Reaffirming the Government of India’s commitment to environmental sustainability, the Secretary participated in a tree plantation drive on the campus under the national campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”. The initiative symbolized a shared dedication towards ecological conservation alongside agricultural development.

Shri Gangwar also chaired an interactive session at the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Auditorium with faculty members, scientists, students, and researchers. The discussions centred around animal health, dairy development, entrepreneurship, and mapping out future growth opportunities in the sector.

In his address, Shri Gangwar emphasized the critical need for strengthening veterinary infrastructure across the country, particularly modern clinical facilities, diagnostic laboratories, advanced breeding systems, and technology-enabled animal health services. He underscored the pivotal role veterinary institutions play in supporting livestock productivity, disease control, rural prosperity, and ensuring food and nutritional security. He urged the student and research community to focus on creating practical, field-oriented solutions that directly benefit grassroot farmers and livestock owners.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. Abhijit Mitra highlighted DUVASU’s contributions to research and skill development. The visit successfully strengthened collaboration between the University and the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, aligning institutional research with national livestock development goals.
