With an aim to elevate India's manufacturing sector to a global level, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industries organized a press conference in Bengaluru today to outline the key frameworks of the Central Government's flagship initiative, the 'BHAVYA' (Bharat Audyogik Vikas Yojana) scheme.

Ms. Gurneet Tej, Joint Secretary, DPIIT, detailed the 'BHAVYA' scheme during the briefing. Sri Govinda Reddy, CEO of Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) and Smt. Khushboo Goel, Commissioner for Industrial Development, Government of Karnataka, were also present on the occasion. Speaking at the press conference, Ms. Gurneet Tej stated that the 'BHAVYA' scheme was launched on May 23, 2026, with a massive budgetary outlay of ₹33,660 crore, and is set to transform the landscape of the country's industrial infrastructure.

Under this scheme, the target is to develop 100 industrial parks across the nation over the next 6 years. The primary focus is on constructing infrastructure-ready plug-and-play parks to facilitate the immediate commencement of manufacturing activities. In the first phase, the application process will begin for the development of 50 parks to identify eligible proposals. A minimum land requirement of 100 to 500 acres is mandated for establishing a park, and the deadline to submit applications for the first phase is July 31, 2026.

The 'BHAVYA' scheme places significant emphasis on Public-Private Partnerships. The Central Government will provide financial assistance of up to a maximum of ₹1 crore per acre for industrial parks developed on government land. For parks developed under private sector leadership, financial assistance up to ₹50 lakh per acre is permitted. Moving beyond just metropolitan areas, Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities with a population of over 10 lakhs have been brought under the ambit of this scheme. Special focus will also be given to states that are lagging in industrial progress, Ms. Gurneet Tej explained.

The scheme offers special provisions for greenfield parks with unallotted and dispute-free land, as well as for the revival of older, under-developed industrial parks that have been lagging. These parks are being designed keeping future requirements in mind, featuring underground utilities, advanced distribution facilities, and quality testing centers.

Ms. Gurneet Tej expressed confidence in the success of the project, noting that regional workshops are already being organized across various states, including Karnataka, to actively engage state agencies and the private sector.
