The Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India organized special programmes today at 10 Venues across Chennai, Vellore and Puducherry as part of the national event for disbursing benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rojgar Yojana (PM-VBRY).

The main programme was held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, where the Hon'ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, disbursed incentives amounting to ₹2,400 crores to more than 15 lakh beneficiaries across the country. As part of a nationwide outreach effort, regional programmes were organised simultaneously at 200 locations across the country.
A total of 10 regional programmes were organized at various venues in Chennai and Vellore and the Union Territory of Puducherry.

Shri N. Rangasamy, Hon’ble Chief Minister graced the event held at Puducherry and Shri Kathir Anand, Hon’ble MP graced the occasion at the event held at Vellore. Hon’ble MLAs Shri N. Senthil Kumar, Shri V.K. Ramkumar, Smt. J Kamatchi attended the events at Manali, Arumbakkam and Chrompet respectively. Shri K Veera Raghava Rao, IAS, Secretary, Department of Labour Welfare and Skill Development of the Govt. of Tamil Nadu and Shri Dharmendra Pratap Yadav, IAS, Principal Secretary / Chairman & Managing Director, TANSI attended the regional event held at Egmore.

The programme at all 10 venues were well attended by beneficiaries of the PM-VBRY Scheme, Industry Association representatives, leading employers and employees of various establishments as well as officials of the State and Central Government and the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation. Newly joined employees were also issued appointment letters at each venue, by their employers.

In the state of Tamil Nadu, a total of 99,303 employees got benefits under Part-A of the Scheme amounting to ₹56.74 crores and a total of 7152 employers got benefits under Part-B of the Scheme amounting to ₹187.67 crores.

A Mega event was held at Sri. Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research, Porur. Shri. Venkatachalam, Chancellor and Smt.Uma Sekar Vice Chancellor of the University attended as the chief guest. The event was attended by 838 participants, including 743 beneficiaries, 53 employers, industry association representatives, public representatives, senior State Government officials, and EPFO officers and staff.

In the Union Territory of Puducherry, a total of 1723 employees got benefits under Part-A of the Scheme amounting to ₹83.18 lakhs and a total of 154 employers got benefits under Part-B of the Scheme amounting to ₹1.8 crores.

The Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rojgar Yojana (PM-VBRY) is a flagship Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) Scheme of the Government of India aimed at promoting formal employment, supporting first-time entrants into the organised workforce, and incentivising employers to create additional jobs. Under the Scheme, eligible first-time employees receive one month's wage, up to ₹15,000, while employers are provided with incentives for a period of two years for generating additional employment. The manufacturing sector is eligible for extended support for an additional two years, thereby encouraging sustained job creation in labour-intensive industries.
