The digital initiatives launched today include Aarogya Setu 2.0, Ayushman App, Ayushman Sarathi WhatsApp Chatbot, National Health Claims Exchange (NHCX), Insurance Plan FHIR Object Creator, e-Sushrut Clinic, Unified Health Interface (UHI), Drug Registry, Common LOINC Codes for India (CLCI) and Bharat Health Terminology Service (BHTS). Developed under the aegis of the National Health Authority (NHA) and National Resource Centre for EHR Standards (NRCeS), these initiatives aim to improve accessibility, efficiency and continuity of care while enabling seamless exchange of health information across the healthcare ecosystem.
Addressing the gathering, the Union Health Minister described the occasion as “a significant milestone in India's journey towards building a healthier nation through digital innovation.” He stated that “under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Government has continuously expanded the scope of healthcare through transformative initiatives such as Ayushman Bharat, while strengthening linkages across primary, secondary and tertiary levels of care”. He remarked that the launch of these digital health initiatives marks another important step towards making healthcare more integrated, accessible and citizen-centric.
Highlighting the remarkable progress of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), Shri Nadda noted that with over 90 crore ABHA accounts created and more than 100 crore health records linked, India today has one of the world's largest digital health ecosystems. He also underlined the growing role of Artificial Intelligence in healthcare, citing the launch of AI-enabled initiatives such as SAHI and BODHI to support better healthcare delivery. Emphasizing that digitalization is no longer an option but a necessity, he said that the newly launched citizen-centric, connected and proactive digital platforms bring previously fragmented health services onto a single integrated platform. He further noted that the revamped Aarogya Setu application will enable people of all age groups – from mothers and children to youth, the elderly and those living with chronic illnesses – to seamlessly access a wide range of health services.
Calling upon States and Union Territories to actively implement these initiatives, Shri Nadda emphasized that while health is a State subject and the Union Government provides policy direction and digital infrastructure, their success ultimately depends on effective implementation at the State level. He thanked the States and Union Territories for their continued support in advancing the digital health agenda and urged them to further strengthen these efforts to realise the vision of a healthier and digitally empowered India, contributing towards the goal of Viksit Bharat@2047.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Prataprao Jadhav described the initiative as a significant step towards strengthening India's digital health ecosystem. He highlighted that, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Government has adopted a whole-of-government approach to integrate the AYUSH system with modern healthcare, creating a more holistic and patient-centric healthcare framework. Emphasizing that digitalization is not merely about building digital infrastructure but about making healthcare more accessible to every citizen, he noted that the initiative would enhance the reach of AYUSH services through critical digital layers while fostering innovation across the sector. He further reiterated the Government's commitment to creating a seamless amalgamation of traditional knowledge systems and modern medicine to deliver accessible, inclusive and integrated healthcare for all.
Speaking on the occasion, Smt. Anupriya Patel underscored that healthcare is ultimately about people and ensuring that quality health services are accessible to every individual, particularly women. She noted that women often shoulder the responsibility of safeguarding their family's health while neglecting their own, and emphasized that digital health initiatives can empower them to take charge of their healthcare. She highlighted that digital health records will enable women to seamlessly access their medical information wherever they go, ensuring continuity of care. She further stated that the initiative would also ease the administrative burden on frontline health workers, including ASHA and Anganwadi workers, thereby improving service delivery.
Dr M. Srinivas highlighted that ABDM is bringing together fragmented digital health solutions into a unified national health ecosystem, paving the way for a more integrated, efficient and citizen-centric healthcare system. He noted that the Mission will reduce paperwork and duplication, strengthen clinical decision-making, and enhance the efficiency of primary healthcare delivery across the country. Emphasizing the transformative potential of digital health, he stated that these initiatives will improve access, equity and continuity of care for all citizens. He further observed that, as the Mission continues to evolve, ABDM has the potential to emerge as a global model for leveraging digital technology to build a connected and inclusive healthcare ecosystem.
Dr. Sunil Kumar Barnwal stated that India's Digital Public Infrastructure has already transformed key sectors such as payments, identity and public service delivery, and that healthcare is now undergoing a similar digital transformation through an expanding ecosystem of interoperable platforms and citizen-centric services. He noted that the initiatives launched today will strengthen healthcare accessibility, improve efficiency, enhance patient experience and equip healthcare providers with better digital tools. He added that these initiatives mark another significant step towards building a connected, inclusive and digitally empowered health ecosystem for every Indian.
