MSME-DFO Gangtok Holds Awareness Programme on Marketing & Branding for PM Vishwakarma Artisans at Pakyong

The MSME-Development & Facilitation Office, Gangtok, under the Ministry of MSME, Govt. of India, in collaboration with the District Administration, Pakyong, organized a One-Day Awareness Programme on Marketing and Branding under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme at Pakyong on July 9, 2026.

The objective of the programme was to strengthen the entrepreneurial skills of PM Vishwakarma artisans by providing training on branding, packaging, digital marketing, financial literacy, export avenues, artificial intelligence, and market linkages.

Shri Sangay Gyatso Bhutia, SCS, ADC (Development), Pakyong, attended as the Chief Guest. The programme began with the felicitation of dignitaries, followed by the lighting of the inaugural lamp and the recitation of the National Anthem.

In his welcome address, Shri Nirmal Chowdhury, Assistant Director & Head of Office, MSME-DFO, Gangtok, expressed gratitude to the dignitaries and participants and outlined the purpose of the programme. Shri Sudhir Kanekar, DGM, RBI, Gangtok, spoke on financial inclusion and digital banking. In his address, the Chief Guest, Shri Sangay Bhutia, urged artisans to uphold traditional craftsmanship while adopting branding, innovation, and digital tools.

The inaugural session concluded with the presentation of mementos and a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Rahul Kamble, Assistant Director, MSME-DFO, Gangtok.

In the technical session, Dr. P. K. Das, Assistant Professor, Sikkim University, spoke on ‘Strategic Branding, Packaging and Pricing for PM Vishwakarma Artisans’. Ms. Pasang Sherpa, Lead District Manager, Pakyong, briefed participants on PM Vishwakarma loan procedures. Shri Sameer Pradhan, India Post, spoke on Dak Ghar Niryat Kendras (DNKs). Shri Sohan Singh Rajpurohit, Manager, RBI, Gangtok, conducted a session on financial awareness. Shri Jaydeep Chakraborty and Shri Amit Tamang from the SLPMU Team, Sikkim, demonstrated the application of Artificial Intelligence in design, marketing, and business growth for PM Vishwakarma crafts. Ms. Rinzen Choden Bhutia, Founder & Director, Trateng Greens, also shared her entrepreneurial success story.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Shri Nirmal Chowdhury. The event witnessed active participation from PM Vishwakarma artisans and other stakeholders, reflecting the Government of India’s commitment to empowering traditional artisans through skill development, financial support, technology adoption, and better market access.
