Progressive Women Farmers Honoured as NABARD Goa Celebrates 45th Foundation Day


ICAR-CCARI Commends NABARD's Contribution to Goa's Rural Economy and Sustainable Agriculture

Panaji, Goa | July 15, 2026

The Goa Regional Office of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) celebrated its 45th Foundation Day on July 14 at The Goa State Co-operative Bank Ltd., Patto, Panaji. The event was organised in observance of the International Year of Women Farmers, highlighting the vital role of women in agriculture and rural development.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest, Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director of the ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-CCARI), congratulated NABARD on completing 45 years of dedicated service and lauded its significant contribution to agricultural and rural development. He highlighted the strong partnership between ICAR-CCARI and NABARD in implementing projects such as the rejuvenation of Khazan lands, promotion of sustainable agriculture, and development of finfish aquaculture. He also emphasized the importance of farmer-centric research, technology dissemination, and innovation in strengthening Goa's agricultural sector.

On the occasion, progressive women farmers from across Goa were felicitated for their outstanding contributions to organic farming, integrated farming, agri-processing, and community-based agricultural initiatives. Some of the awardees shared their inspiring experiences, highlighting innovative farming practices, value addition, entrepreneurship, and improved market access.
An exhibition showcasing locally produced agricultural products and value-added goods by Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs), Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), and Self-Help Groups (SHGs) was also organized.

The programme was attended by Ashutosh Apte, Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Government of Goa; Dr. Prashant Kadam, General Manager, Reserve Bank of India; Pandurang Kurtikar, Chairman, The Goa State Co-operative Bank Ltd.; Deepali Naik, Director, Directorate of Rural Development, Goa; Savita Ramesh Tawadkar, Chairperson of a Beekeeping Farmer Producer Organisation; and women farmers from different parts of Goa.
The event concluded with a renewed commitment to empower women in agriculture through financial inclusion, improved market access, technology adoption, and sustainable rural development.
